I think the identifying quality that makes slipknot stand alone form other nu metal bands is that I bridges a gap for kids to get into other heavier bands/ if someone just randomly starts listening to a black metal band of death metal band they will have no frame of reference as to what they are listening to and there for will be indifferent to it slipknot provides that opportunity for a kid to be exposed to something heavy without completely blowing them away at the same time

@Clown5336 Cannibal Corpse was better with Chris Barnes and Six Feet Under is amazing. I love them. My favorite songs by them are Revenge of the Zombie and As I Die. I love SlipKnoT more then any band though. SlipKnoT and KoRn introduced me into metal. It started with KoRn. Then SlipKnoT. Then Metallica(I hate them now). A band that you should have put on that list is BloodBath. Especially with their cd Nightmares Made Flesh. That blew me away with songs like Year of The Cadaver Race and Eaten.
