@riberg Hi Rich, just to clarify: I have a Windows XP Tablet Edition, and it has Journal; I'm quite sure it's a Tablet Edition specific software at the XP level, so it's not entirely correct that "XP" doesn't have it. "XP Home" and "XP Pro" do not have it, but "XP Tablet Edition" will have it ;).
Yes if you are in the Tablet Input Panel. You need some program (like Word or Wordperfect or Works) to accept the input.
If you are in the Journal you cannot turn handwriting into text because Microsoft does not allow that to happen. The only place it will work is if you have an actual Tablet PC and One Note.
dude are you using mouse to do all these stuff.. bytheway.. your hand writing is fucked. visa must have hard time recogniziing what you are writing..he..he
I didnt even know this system was on vista, now if only I could improve my hand writing XD it looks like chicken scratch. The flags are probably just there version of clip art I'm guessing.
The difference between the Bamboo and Bamboo Fun is that the bamboo does not have the Graphics software or mouse and the eraser is not pressure sensitive. There is a slight difference in appearance as well.
The lack of a pressure sensitive eraser is not a big deal (my opinion) because Photoshop has a goofy eraser.
The Bamboo will work with your CS3 and Painter and any Graphics program.
Have fun - the standard Bamboo will do what you want ...
Sir, i absolutely love your works and tutorials, and i must tell you, your works are incredible. You actually made me get a bamboo. I was just wondering, i bought a bamboo small (not the fun). So my question to you was, is the only difference between Bamboo and Bamboo fun the software? because i have PHotoshop CS3.
i cant find journal when i searched for it.
Mclovin101999 1 year ago
Which Operating System are you using? It has to be Vista or 7 Home Premium and above.
Rich

@riberg its vista
Mclovin101999 1 year ago
As long as you have Vista Home Premium then you should find it when you type Journal into the Search.
If you have Vista Home Basic then you don't have the Journal - it is a Microsoft thing.
Rich

Go to search and type in Journal.
That will get you going ...

As far as I know there is no Journal for XP. That is what I have and I have never found one.
You might check out One Note from Microsoft - perhaps they have a download.

I really should be more clear - the "ordinary" XP does not have a Journal but the tablet edition does. It has One Note as well, doesn't it?
Sorry for the confusion ...

athletics365 2 years ago
If you have Vista Premium it is included in the Operating System.
If not - maybe you can download a trial from Microsoft.
Good luck ...

Can you transfer handwriting to formal print with an intuos 3?

What program do you use for filming your videos?
Horsesrock0123 2 years ago
I use Camtasia Studio from Tech Smith - it is really good but not free.
There is a pretty good free one called CamStudio you might want to try.

Hi Rich.. I'm planning to buy Wacom Bamboo for writing notes and diagrams etc. Is that a good tablet?
jind604 3 years ago
It's a great tablet and will do exactly what you want - by the way - what O/S are you running?
Rich
riberg 3 years ago
I'll be using it for writing my school notes and some diagrams. I'm running Vista Premium.
jind604 3 years ago
It'll work perfectly and make sure you install the Bamboo drivers. They set the whole thing in motion.
Good luck ...

does it work for an XP windows?
i hate office vista = S
AnandaShake 3 years ago
and, can i use the tablet 4 example at school, without a laptop, and then pass the info, or they had to be connected???
AnandaShake 3 years ago
XP has handwriting recognition but it is difficult to use. Vista Premium has a much better module.
The tablet has to be connected to a computer to work. It is not a stand alone device that will capture input for later.

how do u write on the internet? it says it'll work where text is excepted, but i don't know how to do it :(
Ulrock7777 3 years ago
Well - you can use the pen and tablet in Messenger and perhaps in other IM's.
Is that what you mean?
Rich
riberg 3 years ago
well, i mean how do u use the writing recognition thingy on the internet, IM etc. i don't know how, but i tihnk it's possible. is it?
Ulrock7777 3 years ago
I don't know if you can use the handwriting recognition with an IM>
I know you can write messages in Messenger by choosing the pen in the Messenger screen.
If you have Windows Vista Premium (at least) then you can try it out - it is not something I have used because I am still on XP.
I have used the pen input with Messenger and it works fine - it simply sends exactly what you write.

I am reasonably certain you cannot enter information on a web page with the pen and tablet - but again - I have not tried it.
