  • @6020e3 it is making fun of how materialistic our culture has become. There is a part of Disney World in Florida called the Magic Kingdom and heaven was once thought to be in the sky. It is saying that we have become so materialistic that we think Disney world is literally Heaven.

  • what is this song all about? i know it is about Disneyland, but what is it about, the fact that they were poor as kids and didn't get to Disneyland or what ? i don't know much about Disneyland and those little details about western culture since i live in eastern Europe and the closest Disneyland i know is in France.

  • @6020e3 It's a joke about American culture, comparing Disney Land to Catholicism, using the tune of an old hymn.

  • Um, well...not just Americans actually...need to listen closer to the song...and it is just meant to be funny....you know satire?

  • "They'll practice all religions, except maybe southern baptist." YES! =]

  • "...we'll redo that ending." I love it. hehe

  • @protoborg And in the live version that's here on youtube, they did! ":D

  • You do realize that they are talking about Walt Disney World and not Disneyland right? Disneyland is located in California after all.

  • @KyleBMasterThespian They are the same company genius!

  • @KyleBMasterThespian Also, they are talking about The Magic Kingdom, NOT Disneyland or Disney World. But, again, it is the same company; namely, Disney Entertainment.

  • I think they are talking about Disneyland. Go and listen with this idea in your head and it will make sense.

  • 4 people don't have nice pants

  • DVN is awesome .... very classic sounding band

  • Just wondering.. where do you get the 'criticize 'white' American consumer culture' from in that song? Actually the only ethnic group they point out that is there is the 'zillion japanese tourist'.. they do mention the people of orlando are snowy white.

  • @TheSendrell Heaven is Disney Land. That's the entire point of the song.

  • 4 people are southern baptists

  • hes right, the song is called, "Kingdom in the sky". It's song 13.

  • hes right, the song is called, "Kingdom in the sky"

  • "to criticize white American consumer culture"

Then why are the Southern Baptists not allowed? 3:05 Oh, sorry, asking for thought, not slogans. I'll stop.

  • Few people are as creative with lyrics as DaVinci's Notebook!

  • dude i bet the 4 people that disliked r hardcore jack ass christians and were expecting a christian song and when they noticed it was about disney land they disliked

  • Fav song

  • Does SOMEBODY know chords for this song? D:

Must.. play it.. on .. my uke..

  • *sigh* they never did redo that ending...

  • Nice pants.

  • Did you all get the joke "except for southern baptists"... it refers to the souther baptist method of baptism, by dunking in a body of water. You are not allowed in any of the ponds or water effects inside the park, its one of the quickest ways to visit Micky Jail.

  • @JohnDickinson Sorry, but your wrong. Its a reference to the fact that the Southern Baptists boycotted Disney from 1997-2005.

    Derp.

  • @gunadz exactly why this song was made :)

  • @JohnDickinson I really like the niceness of your answer to the question, tho. If I didn't know different, I'd want to believe you.

  • @JohnDickinson i didnt think of it that way, i just thought it was funny lol

  • I still have a legal pad with every signature. I wish they didn;t break up

  • My all-male a capella group did this song.....lots of grueling practice with "mastercard and visa set you free-eee..."

  • um they're singing about Disney WORLD not Disneyland. Disneyland is in California, and they mention Orlando... which is where Disney World is.

  • Have you ever considered that maybe they're just big Walt Disney World fans?? This song is AWESOME. And yes, it's about Walt Disney World, not Disneyland :)

  • Hiiiiiiigh.... Well redo that ending :)

  • Da vinicis notebook is my favorite band. they have amazing songs and SPACE MOUNTAIN

  • Wow, this is really cruel. Ouch.

  • these guys rock!

  • Eh... While creative, I feel like this meant-to-be ironic joke about the Disney Parks' greed and shallow entertainment has been done too many times. I salute this group's talent, but I can't stand by the message that Walt's parks are anything short of magical.

  • @hogbackmtn Have you considered the possiblity that this is comparing Christianity to Disneyland, and not the other way around?

  • it should be judaism and not south baptisi cauz disney was a huge antisemite

  • @hug0leroux - Walt was no anti- anything except by calling them by their family names - he believed in humanity as a whole - not against any group.

  • @Atatakaidan

Actually, we had an extensive discussion of this in my AP US History Class, but Walt was racist, anti-semitic, and sexist. It's not particularly overt, but you can really see it in his cartoons. Considering the time period he lived in, however, this isn't really shocking. It just shows that Walt was considerably more human than people like to portray him.

  • @hug0leroux That would be true except for the fact that it's not true. Snopes.

  • I sort of wonder if the ending was intentional, or if they really screwed it up but just said "Whatever, let's keep it."

  • @Crimsonwavesroll

From 1997 to 2005, the Southern Baptist Convention boycotted Disney, mainly because they had "gay days" at their parks, among other things that the SBC viewed as being "anti-Christian" and "anti-family".

  • Why can't Southern Baptist be practiced??

  • @Crimsonwavesroll - I think the question really is, "Why should the Southern Baptists hate others for something which is not even biblical in nature, but misunderstood, therefore, twisted to make it biblical?" Why should one call any particular group "anti-Christian" or the Disney organization being "anti-family" because they cater to a wide variety of people?

  • mmm mmm yes. good.

  • I can't remember what the name of the song is they made this from is.

  • "This song uses the style of evangelical spiritual music...."

This isn't evangelical spiritual music.. it's acapella/scatting. Slight difference between the two admittedly, but the difference is still there!

  • "let mastercard and visa set you freeeeeee" lol

  • I love this song, reminds me of when I was 5 and my mom took me from Cincinnati, OH all the way to Disney Land. Something few kids from my neighborhood ever get to experience. Thanks for the nostalgic moment!

    JRay513

  • I have to say, I love this song

  • this is an awesome song i love acapella

  • This song is called Magic Kingdon

  • You sure this song is called "Magic Kingdom" and not "Kingdom in the Sky"? I only ask because I don't see "Magic Kingdom" on that album cover in the video... or any other Da Vinci's Notebook album, heh.

  • Thanks for pointing that out.

  • I think it's Magic Kingdom in the Sky :3

  • @CeruleanDragon1 dude it's track 11, look at the picture

  • @CeruleanDragon1 not to be mean or anything

  • @iamonfire1812 i believe the video originally was named 'magic kingdom' and CeruleanDragon1 was saying it might be 'kingdom in the sky' instead. perhaps you misread. not to be mean or anything.

  • @CeruleanDragon1 number 11 on the album

  • @Redfnag258 Correct. #11 is Kingdom in the Sky.

  • @CeruleanDragon1 no its called Kingdom in the Sky because if u look carfully on the back of the album one of the last ones is this song and it says Kingdom in the Sky

  • @CeruleanDragon1 Kingdom in the Sky...track 11

  • I love DVN and everything about them... I think the person posting this video might be a little bit off in the assessment, though (I certainly don't hear any cracks at white people).

  • "Won't you take me to Orlando where the sun is shining bright? Where the Angels are clean-shaven, and the people snowy white". Definitely a crack about, at the very least, how utterly Wonder Bread White the Disney corporate attitude tends to be.

  • All God's children shall be free in

    Pirates if the Caribbean

    May your after-life be blessed,

    Just American Express it.

Genius rhyming. You guys are seriously the best. Ever.

    "Wanna re-do that ending?"

Ha ha, I expected to hear the Dreidel Song start up. Oh well. I'll have to play your CD.

  • Having established that this song is awesome, I'd like to highlight that the banjo effects at 1.25, which are done "a capella" completely WITHOUT a banjo, display a particularly huge awesomeness rarely found on this planet. Awesome? Yes indeed.

  • Yes. Banjo's acapella should be taught in school. That is how freekin awesome it is.

  • This song is awesome.

  • Motion has turned into a Law. This song is Awesome.

  • i 3rd movement passed

  • Third, and i second that last comment.

  • Dude, second? Seriously? Well, I love this song! It's hilarious!

  • ...First???
