  • i know but it reached land at night on the 28th

  • Anyone interested in coastal restoration efforts should get involved with America's WETLAND: Campaign to Save Coastal Louisiana. The foundation works to raise public awareness of the impact Louisianas wetland loss has on the state, nation and world and to gain support for efforts to conserve and save coastal Louisiana. Check out the video "Washing Away" and support AWF by subscribing to the channel "marmillionco."

  • My parents and sisters were alive for Andrew and they told me how bad it was but katrina wow i feel of sorry for them

  • la naturaleza cobrandole al el hombre su indiferencia

  • LOVE HURRICANES

  • I can destroy all tornados and hurricanes,

and want to realize my discovery in practice...

  • Architects, Builders, Code Officials and Homeowners are all turning to SMART VENT automatic foundation flood vents to protect homes from the destruction that a hurricane, flood or other natural disaster can cause. SMART VENT is designed to provide both flood protection & air ventilation, and is the only ICC-certified vent to meet the requirements as set forth by FEMA and the NFIP for all homes or buildings located in a floodplain.

Educate yourself, be safe, and save on flood insurance.

  • I LOVE HURRICANES!!

  • you like hurricanes seriously why do u like hurricane there's nothing nice and cute about it...anyway i love that song its totally awsome!!!!!you rock!!!

  • guys new orleans isnt the only place destroyed...Mississippi had it just as bad..i live in pascagoula mississippi there is nothing here it came through and in a few mins everything was gone

  • "guys new orleans isnt the only place destroyed...Mississippi had it just as bad"

Actually. Mississippi got it worse. And other parts of Louisiana East and South of NOLA got it worse as well. The levees breaking is what did NOLA so badly.

  • So did 36ft storm surges that blew away my home not just the levees. my house was no where near the levees

  • F.E.M.A. = Find Every Mexican Available

  • grow up you fucking racist!!!

  • I can destroy these monsters...

and want to make my discovering in practice...

  • its bush's fault(the liberal motto). it should be "on your marxist, Get Sexist, RACIST!"

  • Why didn't you just leave? The Government would have eventually found you........To mail you your welfare checks! Dozens of buses were used for this purpose.........They must have all been full......Right??

  • GREAT SONG!

  • i like hurricanes

  • Bush was too hung up on war to care about his fellow americans!

  • another comment after i read the other commens kim u dont think we (new Orleans and surrounding areas) know that it was the leves that drowned us? of course we do what u dont know is that the industrial canal was not built to withstand a blow by a barge. that is what flooded lower 9th ward and upper st.bernard parish. none of us had money to evacuate on the people who did were the ones lucky enough to have family out of town. One question to you kimvisiter where R U from???

  • guess what i lived in st. bernard parish before katrina. there was 100% of that parish destroyed. no house was left unflooded. so it isnt just mississippi and alabama that were left out of this video it was places in louisiana that were worst off than new orleans. St. Bernard and plaquimine parishes are the parts of louisiana that stick out in to the gulf of mexico and got the brunt of the storm. They however are hardly ever if ever mentioned. So i can understand what frustrations all u have

  • poorly named...its more of a tribute to new orleans than the gulf coast. I was there too, yet the majority of the world seems to ignore the fact that Mississippi had one hell of a go with Katrina, too!

  • I live in New Orleans. But at the same time I so agree with you. If you look at it the press was SO up into New Orleans. I live on the westbank in Algiers and we got hit super hard also. But at the same time I have family who lives in Picyune, Mississippi and they got nothing. When I went back down there after Katrina there was NOTHING in Picyune. So New Orleans isn't the only place in the world.

  • I'm staying for Hurricane Ike...

    v.v;

  • I don't care how many people sit here and critize this video, blame Katrina on God, blame people being hungry on Bush. STOP. Every single one of those people suffered. All their lives they had ridden out storms. No one knew what Katrina had in store. She was a complete freak of nature. So STOP knockin these people!

  • The interesting thing about these comments is that they share one thing in common. They all ignore the fact that it wasn't the Hurricane that drowned NO. No one seems to understand that the erosion of coastal wetlands + the failure of a levee system + government inaction/incompetence (on all levels) created a much larger tragedy than the Hurricane itself. The fact that this conversation stays political just shows how OUR government/media has turned the public against itself. It's sad really.

  • Yes, there are liberals and Democrats along the gulf coast. They are worthless. This is them.

Fortunately, they are a minority. Please ignore them as we do here.

  • stfu you northener fag, go rot in a hole, a true american would pray for our safety

  • tigerbait134, I'm in Biloxi. I've been through every storm here since Betsy. I haven't been just praying for their safety, I've been bottle feeding and wiping the butts of these squalling brats.

They are liberals and Democrats. They are worthless. They are a minority.

  • hrmm looks to me like a bunch of jobless fucking bums waiting for handouts instead of busting their ass to rebuild what was lost like the people of the midwest did this spring / early summer...

  • Your a fucking idiot because a hurricane just went through there damaged and destroyed everything so do you think that the people had money after that you fuck piece of scum. Obviously the people are jobless the whole city got hit with a mad hurricane dumb ass.

  • see what happens when u have a shit ass gov in office but when gustav came jindal got 2million people ot of there so dont blame me i voted for jindal fuck the democrats mcain pailn all the way

  • Macain is going to mess up our country!!!! That is just what we need is another bush in office if Macain gets it i am moving to Canda for sure!!!

  • you can vote for whoever you like homie, this is America. for me I don't wanna see my country losing the war and giving up even if I know I'm gonna die from the hunger and starve.

    God bless the USA

    and bless McCain

    strong America for ever

  • I understand what u r getting at i thought this was like a fight over who would be the best president i am with u most of the way lol

  • No offense to some people, but the fact that people were given multiple opportunities to get the hell out of dodge, n stayed on their own accord, well.. they shouldnt be pissed at the government that warned n warned them to no end to evacuate.! MS had just as much devastation, but they were intelligent enough to not WAIT on the working people n the Government to HAND them somethin for free. Get a job!

  • Hurricane Katrina was a unfortunate natrual disaster. Our Government just failed to have a good plan in place. Lucky for us that Gustav is turning out to be much milder. This song kind of sucks.

  • Gustav wasn't THAT much milder. It did serious damage, but it didn't hurt NOLA very badly so it didn't get much attention. It was the most destructive storm to hit some parts of louisiana in the last 50 years, if not ever.

  • The mayor of NO was STTTTOOOOOOPPPPPIDDDDDD!

  • Katrina and Gustav only show that nature is still more powerful than all of us. Anyone who sees them as 'government idiocy' has become too dependent on government! The West was settled only 150 years ago- brave people took on nature then, knowing it took intelligence and courage. Today people make wrong decisions against nature, lose, and blame someone else. The video is a tribute-- but not to what it thinks!

  • I wish you luck guys! Anyway I would suggest to leave Orlean otherwise it will happen again and again...:/I could not imagine recovering my house each 2-3 years.

  • Thank You

  • UHm how is our government an idiocy?

  • i live in gulfport and if gustav goes to the east we'll be smashed again. And we won't rise from this one.

  • 222delta and ethan6357. I live in Vancleave. We stayed during Katrina and I'm staying thru this one. I have family and friends who lost everything, and almost lost their lives. Was in the attic during HK.

  • we still recovering and now gustav is comming dang

    now what

am i ganna have to move lol

    im not evacuating

    because i didnt in katrina

    i lived in katrina

i live in ocean spring near gulfport and biloxi

  • good luck with gustav.

  • thanks

  • how the hell can you say a freakin storm is bushes fault..its mother nature

    stupid democrap

  • Bush's fault

  • I'm not a Bush fan, but you might want to check, Bush didn't build the bad levy's, nor did he create Katrina. I hate what happened, but you can't blame weather on politicians.

  • Agreed. It s not Bush's responsiblity for declaring state of emergencies, evacuating, or sending the national guard.

  • Yes it is. Categorically. It IS! It's part of the job description for "president".

  • Nope. The governor has to declare a state of emergency. The governor has to send evacuation orders. The governor is the only one who can call for that state's national guard. It's al the governor's responsibility.

  • "Nope. The governor has to declare a state of emergency. The governor has to send evacuation orders. The governor is the only one who can call for that state's national guard. It's al the governor's responsibility."

    That is correct.

  • As I'm sitting here looking at this video, I am listening to the weather report that another hurricane is heading your way. I have to say I am so sorry for your losses in Katrina. I live in New Jersey and we've had our share of hurricanes and nor'easters but not on that magnitude that I can remember. Our hearts up this way were with you. There were a lot of volunteers from our area that have gone down to help in any way they could. Stay strong!

  • It's all Bush's fault!

    Stupid hippie!

  • Fishnut89 says it PERFECT below. People read your facts before you start blasting others. The hurricane didnt BECOME a hurricane 5 miles off the coast! I lived in Gautier, MS at the time and I was in atlanta 5 days before the storm hit! I had tree's down in my yard and many people lost more. Sorry for the losses for them, but not for ignorant videos...

  • Some people couldn't get out, but no one would ever think it'd be that bad.

  • i live 30 minutes away from new orleans. my family & friends were devastated by the storm. I didn't lose any thing but went without food or water for days b4 they opened a gas stationed so i could evacute to texa. i still have nightmares about this. i am always afraid of this happenin again. i was seperated from my family for about 2 weeks. at the time, my son was 8 my daughter was 5 the only thing i had 2 feed them was candy & dry noodles. i hope this never happens 2 anybody again

  • Yea, I lived about ten/fifteen minutes away, I also didn't lose much, but we didn't have any water, electricity, gas. The food that was in the house had to feed seven people and we could only get two ice bags per family. I was eleven, in Mississippi. I'm glad you guys made it out OKay, and I pray this never happens again, though it might.

  • I was one of people they hired by the levee breah to make sandbag, so i have pretty good picture what it was like, i was by lakeside, if the hurricane did not move its path to Mississippi i would not be here. Thank you god. Did you see what i look like, when i took the picture with President, i was swollen from cold in my joints staying half standing condo. My friend died. leaving me behind. I had to get out there to help. Look at me today way better.

  • Oh My Gosh,

I Havent Saw Anything Liakk This.

I Live In England So i Havent Saw Nothing

Ever Jus Liakk This We Only Have Thunderstorms. I Am Soo Soo Soo Sorry For All Thise People Who Lost There Homes Who Lost There Loved Ones.

  • You would think that this happened in the late 1800's or something, there is no way in the HELL that in the year 2005 our own people had to suffer through this tragedy. WHY is what we should be asking ourselves, with billions and billions of dollars just wasted away in this country, Why were people allowed to suffered like this? I am ashamed to be a an American, truly ashamed.

  • This is truly sad, to know that this incident took place in 2005 and in America. This is a country that spends billions and billions of dollars on a daily basis and couldn't even help our "own" people in the need of a dire crisis. I am sometimes embrassed to call myself an "American".

  • i feel reallly bad for all those people who got hit by hurricane katrina. but it is some of the peoples falt because they didnt evacuate when they were told to. but its not all the peopls falt because some of them werent warned of how bad the hurricane would be.

  • Historians are "major" assholes. If this is not a clear reason that the Bush administration should be listed as a complete failure, I don't know what else it could be. Hundreds of lives could have been saved had more resources gone into Fema beforehand instead of building roads, bridges, dams, hospitals, and brand new schools in so called lovely iraq.

  • I like the guy who's trying to walk through the water, with a case of Diet Pepsi lol not

  • Almost three years after Katrina hit and I am still offended that all the attention goes to NEW ORLEANS. The entire Mississippi coast was wiped out. New Orleans suffered, but so did MISSISSIPPI!!! Just because you see it on the news doesn't mean that it's the whole story. Do your own research and formulate your own opinion.

There is footage of Mississippi in this video. I recognize many of the places.

  • I agree. This is insulting. It left out entire segments of victims. What about Mississippi? the Coast is gone! Bay St. Louis was almost wiped completely off the map. How about Louisiana further inland and north of the city....Metairie, Slidell, Mandeville, Madisonville, Covington, Folsom, Franklinton, Tylertown, MS.? These clowns have NO clue!

  • how is this insulting...its a video...they dont need to show every single area it hit...they were just showing the hurricane

  • I would think one would be more insulted by government incompetence in a disaster of this magnitude than by a tribute to the disaster's victims. This video tribute states very clearly it's intent as a sign of solidarity with "all those affected by Hurricane Katrina and the unforgivable idiocy that is our government". Too much hateful not enough grateful...

  • Just as I said ........NO CLUE

  • Need a hug?

  • Yes yes yes --- the government should take care of ALL OF US. The entitlement society....

how about self accountability? Then again, lets give Blanco and Nagin a free pass, and crucify President Bush. Leftist loons. Will use anything for the purposes of politics --- you don't care about people - you care about politics.

  • tradegey

  • DUMB

  • hahahaha my sisters name is katrina. cursed us all!!! >:{ jk jk jk lol

  • after years everyone will be affected by this hurricane-and other climates changes (Europe,Africa...) We have to do something !!! we can't wait for government's help, because we know that they won't help us (especially America and Asia) we are stronger than them. that's true, but everyone is individualist and thinks that s/he can't do something to help our world, but no!!! this is fault thinking-opinion...we are the generation which must change this terrible world.

  • this truly is a thing of beauty.....i can tell my children and grandchildren about how i was affected my hurricane katrina...

  • i feel so responsible.... my name is Katrina.

    :( T_T im sorry everyone!

  • its ok,u r not the hurricane...i also know somone whos name is katrina

  • I'd hate to think that the US government did a good job when compared to the cyclone in Myanmar... Maybe Bush did a bad job... but their prime minister... wow. Talk about neglect!

  • bush is a devil look at 5:13 the book he is suppose to reading to the kids during the 9/11 attacks is upside down tell me he didnt know what was going with 9/11 and hk

  • lol how do you know its upside down... the pictures quality isn't good enough lol

    people just don't like bush

  • No one seems to see that the freaking government of New Orleans was corrupt and that it played a role in all of the chaos that happened. I like how it is the United States Governments fault for the the dealings of one of the most corrupt cities in American "New Orleans." Dont get me wrong, what occured was horrible and I feel for those who suffered but look at the whole picture before you go blame the Republicans for everything that goes wrong.

  • i lose my house there in texas now im living in ireland sucks on u america

  • to this day there are people still sitting around doing nothing and collecting government checks.

enough is enough st least try to find a job, at least try a little.

  • if theres nothing!!! what to do !!!nothing you uderstand THERES NOTHING LEFT

  • Hurricanes on a satillite have a wierd, scary spiral image.

  • cool song!

  • someone thinks researchers caused this hurricane? wow just shows you ppl believe whatever they want.. even if it's retarded as hell

  • lol F**kin researchers and their super hurricane powers... BASTARDS!

  • Bad time for our country. Bush didnt do a thing to help,,,

    ***Barry***

  • cool;)

  • like the song "oh katrina plz dont come to town"

  • This is a truly powerful and awsome song and video.

  • The Government was founded for the People to control. The People no longer control the Government. This is why your Government doesn't come to rescue. Your Government could care less about a few thousand dead people. Your Government plots against it's own people. One day your Government will fail not only a few of you, but all of you.

  • holly thrue

  • WHAT AN AMAZING SONG. made the hairs on my arms stand up when you showed that guy with cardboard shoes taped with rubber bands. thank you for caring. i love this song. the rhythm is great but the leads are even better in my opinion. great blues jam.

  • they should have made stronger levys

  • Hi BamaBlondieDG,

This can happen anywhere in America at any time. If it happens to you and your family, I'll be outraged that you aren't getting the help you deserve as an American citizen, regardless of your politics. No one deserves what happened to the people of the Gulf Coast. Please understand.

  • Yeah, but its not just OUR government, its ppl who are so used to MOOCHING off of our government, who EXPECT the government to gove them what they want! Food and money, so they won't have to work for it! Ppl you have to fend for yourselves sometimes!

  • Katrina victims are not to blame for levee failures & a painfully slow emergency response that added tragedy to an already devastating natural disaster.

People expecting Emergency services after a major catastrophe aren't mooching. We pay tax so these services are in place when we need them. If we can't expect help from Police, Fire, EMS and National Guard when we need it then why do we have government? Expecting government to do its job is not mooching.

  • thank you

  • i am from louisiana i was here when it hppened i saw it with my own eyes i wouldnt say we were mooching off the government i would say we truely lost everything an fucking fema sucks ass fuck you fema

  • Have you ever been in a natural disaster? I'm gonna guess "no"? Life is easy when you get three squares a day from mom and dad.

  • I made it through Katrina on the Gulf Coast. I had money. I couldn't buy food, I couldn't buy water. Why? There was none to buy.

Ponder that next time you make this statement.

  • We will never forget. Great song, great editing.
