Sadly he probably didn't survive. I agree if you had him from being very young he would be very dependent upon you and not acquired any survival skills.
But you did an amazing thing to just keep him alive. Well done.
If it's very young and if you help it, it will believe that you're as a mother or as a father. It can't live in woods : no familysize. After being free again, generally, it won't survive.
But help it like imprezamadge ! You'll have a marvellous friend !
I had a thrush in my house for 15 years ! (as my friend, as a pet).
If you find a baby or a very young thrush and if it wasn't able to fly, I think it's a better thing to keep it all life ! (You can look if its wing feathers are big for example or ask a veterinary surgeon !)
I hardly ever see a thrush these days as they are so much rarer than they used to. Hopefully it learnt somee survival skills from other birds. Well done for saving it anyway.
that was the last i saw of him and when i walk the dog i always stop where i let him go for a couple of mins in hope he would fly down to me but it never happens.
difficult choice, difficult to say if it is good or not...
be blessed

That is not a Song Thrush (Turdus Philomelus). It appears to be a Mistle thrush (Turdus Viscivorus).
While that was incredibly noble of you, it was not the right thing to do unfortunately.
The bird will not be able to provide for itself in the wild, nor does it have the skill to avoid predators.
