@flattrack53s - You talk like Kit cars are horrible. I can almost guarantee you the modern Kit Car GT's are probably built better than the originals. They may not be authentic, but they do the job pretty damn well.

The original GT40 did 240 at 6200 RPMs but was built to run at 7500 RPMs all day so I will stick with the original Tunnel Port 427 GT40 myself. Great video!
Its a gt40, notice the switch under the gauges. Its like the ones you buy at the hardware store unlike the custom made gt switch's on the dash. Also i cant see it very well but i dont see a passenger airbag that the gt would have but not the gt40.

The original GT40s were built in England and designed by English people paid for by Henry Ford. Ford wanted to buy Ferrari but they refused so instead he threw the money at British engineers to build him a race winning car to beat Ferrari. They did, and it did.
Marks I, II and III were entirely British designed/built, they then gave the designs to Shelby to build in America for the Mark IV but it only did 2 races.

"The CAV GT-40 Mk1b with a FRPP 347, RBT ZF 5speed, EFI, factory springs and shocks, Single Outlet Nose, RH at 4" front, 4.5" rear.
You can see the 220mph Speedo occasionally. We calibrated the speedo on the dyno and thought it was close. The tires are 26.5 dia., the ZF box has 3.22fd and .740 5th. it works out to 173.40mph @ 5500 rpm which was the last rpm seen before shutting down.

The thing that most people don't think of when they blast it down the highway: Their tires. The average car uses all weather road tires, which gives you shitty traction at speeds higher than 90 mph. That's why the high school idiots thinking they can control their cars at 130+ tend to wash out and slide off the road with the slightest input from steering.

im gonna have to disagree with wat u said bout the traction at 90 mph....ill set my cruise control in my Lexus GX470 at 90 on I5 all the way up to oregon then get on hiway 97 and set the cruise at 100
and my tires are still fine

You want to talk about scary, try doing 145 in a 1993 5.0 Coupe. I did it, and damn if that car didnt feel like it was about to slide off of the road. I could feel my rearend starting to fish-tail.

The fastest I've gone is 92... in my 1993 Taurus. The speedo only goes up to 85, but I know it was 92 b/c that's what the cop clocked me at. I got a ticket and no points... THANK YOU TRAFFIC SCHOOL!!!!!

@EMHbelmonte idk but i have three reasons for saying its not a gt just in the video.
#1 the dash is leather, not plastic like a gt's
#2 the gauges are older style and different colors
#3 switches aren't chrome colored plastic, they're metal with rubber on the top

that is a GT40 the gauge's are much different than the new ones. and before anyone says some stupid shit yes they have the same gauge cluster but the guages on this are orange and look much diffent than the white and red ones of the new GT

This is from the original thread on a gt40 forum posted by the owner of the car.
"The CAV GT-40 Mk1b with a FRPP 347, RBT ZF 5speed, EFI, factory springs and shocks, Single Outlet Nose, RH at 4" front, 4.5" rear.
You can see the 220mph Speedo occasionally. We calibrated the speedo on the dyno and thought it was close. The tires are 26.5 dia., the ZF box has 3.22fd and .740 5th. it works out to 173.40mph @ 5500 rpm which was the last rpm seen before shutting down.
