  • man in your description says:

    Format: WMV.

    Video: 320x240, 30 fps.File Size: 54538 KB.

    file size 54MB ????????

    i have maked a video: 1280x720 (HD) Format:Avi and it's only 25 MB and it's 4:48 minutes ??????????

  • what is the original uncompressed file size and the compressed file size for youtube?

  • Just wondering how you would encode it...I learned some tricks, but I'm still not 100% happy with the results.

  • Any ideas on getting best quality on a mac using h.264 with Compressor or Quicktime?

Also, for youtube - do you use broadband, streaming, or what for the default settings in Quicktime before you adjust them? Does it even matter? I noticed that streaming is 320x240, so I've been going with streaming.

  • I wonder whether or not a 2:03 version with WMV will look better. I've been trying to get a video that's just under 10 minutes to get this quality with h.264 and the highest bitrate allowed (around 1150 kbps with the audio) and I can't come close to this. It seems that with .mov files, the details and smoothness isn't nearly as good...I've uploaded around 20 different versions of the same video and I can't get close to this WMV that you've uploaded.

  • I'm not done with testing... So stay tuned. I'll probability redo everything now that I have a better understanding of how the YouTube transcoder works. I also plan to do some audio codec testing.

  • Just wondering what your opinion is regarding the VP8 codec from ON2 Technologies and the future of the company in the codec space?. Thanks.

  • Looks like WMV wins. I find it to be AMAZING that you can't get this quality on youtube just using Compressor or Quicktime on a mac with Final Cut. At least I haven't been able to...and I've been going NUTS trying to get good quality like this - and I can't figure it out. Thanks for the uploads!

  • Not necessarily. This clip, unlike the others, has 120 seconds (3600 frames) of nothing (black frame) added to the end of the video. I did this to see if I could trick the youtube transcoder into encoding at a higher bitrate. I think it might have worked!... but I haven't had time to check the results, maybe this weekend I can get to it.
