I think it is terrible that black people from the African continent rounded up their own native people to pass them on to slavers and it would have been easy for them as they would have know which people to pick and from what area of Africa. Wow!!! This man stated that he was given $5 monthly from the government. It's hard to believe that such a small amount provided for this man all he needed to survive. Yet, he seemed so grateful. This is an extremely moving interview. We are so materialistic today and take so many things for granted. It is so wonderful being able to hear one of the actual voices of history. This dear man and others like him struggled and endured so many trials. Now, we as African American people live in a better place (though, we still have long to go). If only more people would take the time to think about history and how far we have come, the world would be a better place.
