But, this title, this vocal 'competition,' this 'fandom war', etc., is meaningless to Kelly. Kelly didn't perform this cover to outdo anyone; she performed it for the love of music and artistry. So, can we Kelly stans just enjoy this epic performance? And, can Carrie fans just agree to disagree, and enjoy their own idol somewhere else?
I respect and love Kelly but I forget that when I see Kelly fans criticize Carrie! It's sad to think that the fans of two artists who genuinely respect each other establish an unhealthy competition between the artists just because of jealousy, insecurity, and hatred. Both artists had different interpretations of the song but you can never say Carrie sucks because all who are sane know what Carrie is capable of doing. Much love to Kelly! Carrie's version is down in the toilet. This one brings emotions. Carrie needs a lesson to mix her vocal range. We get it, you can belt. But what else?
Ok ok... You can't compare their versions you know. Carrie sang it straight out country style. Kelly sang it like a rock-ish soulful style. Both of em did amazing.
I'm a fan of both Kelly and Carrie! It's sad to think that fans of both artists keep on hating each other. Why can't we just respect and appreciate (if not love) both artists and whatever they do. Honestly, I LOVE Carrie's version of this especially whenever she sings this LIVE! Both artists sang their hearts out in this song and even though I initially thought that there's no other artist who can do this song justice besides Carrie, I actually appreciate and love Kelly's take on the song. :)
Kelly Clarkson & Carrie Underwood = The Royalty of American Idol. We don't have to start World War III, guys! Both of them are amazing and have very loyal fans. I'm glad Kelly Clarkson covered "I Know You Wont" and I'm sure Carrie is proud of this! The people coming in here to say how Carrie did it better (or even those that say Kelly did it better) are missing the point! This isn't a competition. Kelly covered this song because she loves it, it is a compliment to Carrie. Most of you who run in here putting Kelly down are only saying Carrie did it better but offer no real critique of Kelly. @Bananabear20 The phrasing is different, not off. A cover doesn't have to be sung exactly like the original. What fun is there in that? The shrilly notes must be coming from bad speakers, that is just a lame attempt to make the Kelly fans upset. Move on....
I like Kelly , but Carrie Underwood is so much better hitting the high and long notes !!! and this version is more short than the original! in my opinion Carrie vocals are more "Stronger" !! lol but I like both!

@Bananabear20 Are you kidding, Kelly's notes were higher than Carrie's in this song. The difference is that Carrie held her note longer because the note she sings in is lower. It sounds higher for you because Carrie can hold her tone with more clarity and resonant than Kelly can. Furthermore, the song demands nothing. Carrie didn't write the original song nor the melody, she just sang her interpretation of it, just like Kelly is doing here.
@nonshalan carrie cant hold her tone with more clarity and resonant then kelly...kelly just doesnt show it off she likes to show her range off and power more then her sustaining she proved with because of grammys that she can sustain high notes it was a Eb5 and here kelly just nailed all kinds of notes her highest was a F#5 and she hit a C#5-D5-E5 all while sustaining it for about 8-9 seconds while carrie usually only hits a Bb4 for about 9 seconds in this peformance thats not even a C5 lol
