  • if you can help me I can tell you how the song is called?

  • Just gotta get in here an say Ben and Shalene really went out with a bang with this and also their interpretation of "Fever". I was completely floored and just amazed! I don't know if this could ever hit me as hard as it did then. I'm looking forward to this year's competition to see if anything will come close! Bravo Shalene! Bravo Ben!

  • How beautiful.....Perfection. Has to make anyone watching want to hug their partner.

  • I love Ben and Shalene.

  • wow so simple and yet beautiful! amazing!!

  • "You and me" by Lifehouse

  • What song are they dancing to?

  • I LOOOVE the spinning at 0:55. I don't dance and I don't know what it's called, but the way they use momentum to go is so beautiful.

  • They are called pivots and probably most of the Slow Waltz routines start with them these days.

  • they start it off as a slow social foxtrot, but transition into a smooth Viennese Waltz

  • Are you kidding? Are you not listening to the music? Are you not watching what they are doing? Its Viennese Waltz and a dam good one!

  • My version is better lol

  • Are you kidding me? Can you even hear the music which is in three?

  • yeah i am sure mr/ms high tech knows more about ballroom dances than the professionals - NOT.

  • Yes it is Viennese Waltz, I am a professional dancer so take it from me. It even looks like Smooth Viennese Waltz should so I have no idea where you are coming from here

  • it is undoubtedly a viennese waltz. one of the things you will see in many "open" category routines is a heavy use of variations -- that is, steps borrowed from other dances and put into the rhythm of another dance. There are a few V. Waltz basic steps in there and you can see many examples of classic American Silver and Gold Viennese steps throughout the routine.

  • Wow that was amaizingly eligant and fluid I couldn't take my eys off of them, this is why I love wathing ballroom dancing so much!!!

  • i saw this preformance on pbs last year and it almost made me cry, it was so beautiful. that is one of my favorite love songs and i think they really capture the essence of it. they are captivated with each other. <3

  • I've seen them at competitions, and I have to say, they are amazing with their students as well. I would love to be in their studio and work with them. Their kindness is shown in the dance floor and off. A pro couple to model in dance and etiquette. Thanks for posting them!

  • I went to see this night of competition live (smooth and international latin) - and I must admit that I didn't know anything about american smooth at the time and I thought I would have a hard time picking a favorite couple- but this dance blew me away and it was so beautiful to watch! it was breathtaking

  • I have always loved to watch Ballroom Dance but My God...This has to have been the most beautiful dance I have ever seen!!!! You can tell how much in love they are. Because of this dance, I am signing up for lessons in ballroom dance. OMG!!!!!

  • This is the best dance ever, I love it!!!

  • Ben and Shalene teach at the studio where I take lessons. In addition to being two of the best dancers in the US, they are two of the kindest people I have ever met, which makes their dancing all the more special.

I remember when they debuted it at the studio's anniversary dance. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Thank you for posting it!

  • I agree, i prefer this much more than poor kung-fu technique showdance

  • This was a great dance but I enjoyed the kung-fu showdance because they took a risk and it is a showdance where you are allowed to do whatever you want, no rules.

  • You obviously don't know anything about Smooth if you honestly think that. What PBS didn't tell you is that this was their last performance together, their retirement honor dance. They didn't want to do anything over the top, a.k.a. "flash-n-trash." Incidentally, the couple that did the kung fu showdance is no longer together, and the man has gone through two other partners since.

  • Amen! I hear you!

  • One of my favorite competition dances of all time. They are amazing and probably should have won this competition based on this dance.
