@vsalva a properly wired humbucker with a metal cover that is grounded should be relatively quiet. if you have a bunch of wires running, they may need shielding (grounded wraps). i've since put flatwounds on this pig and it sounds pretty smooth for what it is.
@avivaben make sure the mount is not permanentor scarring, and the pickup is not too close. i found after looking that both duncan and markley make decent soundhole pickups that drop in and have volume/tone. kinda nice.
i did this to an old acoustic i had except it was a p-90 out of a epi casino and i cut a hole near the bridge. yes it was permanent, no i dont have the guitar any more.
@lars2 pickup is grounded through the negative wire and the shield/cover. the strings are NOT grounded, though that could be done by adding a metal plate under the wooden bridge holes OR a steel saddle (nice idea). way too much work... this whole assembly comes out fairly easily. right now it is sitting out with it's wiring and jack and all. if i added pots it would be permanent. i'd rather use a cool rail or small humbucker for that so as to have enough "soundhole" left...
what kind of strings are those elecrtic?... and are you still getting some acoustic sound out of the guitar with the humbucker modification in the sound while like that??
@drewp8091 ernie ball super slinky 009 yeah theres a half inch of soundhole left and it still has some sound. not worth playing acoustic but for practice... this pickup mount is removeable for that reason. still, if you want to amplify that acoustic vibe, it works well. i've since took the electronics out and will go back to 010 acoustic bronze strings. just because i can. honestly the pickup is great to record or add effects, but it is nothing new. been done for decades...
Hey! Great sound!
What strigns do you use? Bronze? Steel?

@RooRayMusic i've put flatwound electrics on it and it is unreal. no squeaky finger noises and really clear.

@RxRotaryForLife - is it shielded and grounded properly?

hey, cool idea!
I'm thinking of installing a pickup/humbucker on an acoustic 12-string in order to obtain the sound of a rickenbacker 12-string...any tips?

I'm trying to do this to a junky child's size acoustic. I have a feeling it's going to sound just rowdy enough to actually work.
And nice playing. What tuning are you using here.

@chaztoo
open a tuning i think...hooray....i'm not the only idiot to do this!!!. you have to watch for feedback, but it is great to record with. cheers!
