  • WAIT A MIN. LET RETRACT WHAT I SAID ...HIS VOICE DOESNT MATCHES HIS FACE ..HIS VOICE IS VERY MANLY BEING HES A CHILD HERE ...LOL AT MY SELF

  • HIS VOICE DOESNT MATCH HIS FACE...STILL HAVE HIS BOYISH LOOK

  • Too much talent in one young man !! Gosh!

  • This was a lip sync performance... unfortunately.

  • I really had to play this clip twice. W/ all the junk we're hearing on the radios these days and/or the untalented mongoloids receiving multiple undeserved rewards and endorsements I needed a trip "back down memory lane" just to revive my spirit. {<-- waves "Goodbye" to real music and leaves the room.......}

  • funny how almost everyone pay attencion to the little mistake and not to the great song and the voice.........................thank you for this great song

  • I think he did say Miss Tevin Campbell. I know he's gay but that's just wrong.

  • @AnitaDickish He said "Ladies and Gentlemen, here's Tevin Campbell." This is the way Don nearly always introduced the music guests.

  • Even though he is clearly not singing live I still love him! He needs to come back!

  • i think he was a fortune teller we missed the i i miss tevin cambell...i miss you tevin

  • Ms. Tevin Campbell. LOL.

  • you know that they use [miss] as mister to?. like Mister Teven Campbell

  • 3:20 is the best part

  • i miss tevin

  • I can remember watching him do this song, biting my fingernail, hoping he would be able to hit that falsetto note on that lead in to the final portion of the song (well, that's what I call it). Have seen shows (like this one), where he nailed it with flying colors, and have also seen shows where he missed that note big time! So, it would make me kinda nervous for him when he'd perform this live (don't, for the life of me, know why). Still, loved seeing him performing it live, though:)

  • damn his voice is more than amazing live!!!!!!:D

  • i miss songs like this

  • lovely song,meeen! tevin

  • I LOVE U TEVIN U BETTA SING!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Don Cornelius did not say Miss Tevin Campbell, he said "His name is Tevin Campbell" the upload was cut off. But then again ya'll already knew that. Sad how people need to run other people in the ground because they think it makes them look superior when in fact it makes you look inferior and it reveals your insecurities. NO NEED TO RESPOND . . . SEEK THERAPY!

  • what happin to tevin

  • Tevin u are soo cold homie and one of the greatest male r&b vocalists ever man u got hits homies one love and stay strong homie peace! and yes comeback man!

  • I have always loved Tevin Campbell. He is truly a talented human being. I could care less what he has done within his life because no one on Earth is perfect and anyone who dare say that they are, is truly a liar! This is pure, natural talent. I LOVE IT! He definitely needs to make a come back. He has not lost his voice due to drugs. Anyone who has grew up with a talented drug addict knows that every talent given by God can be recovered unless God takes it away! Come back Tevin!

  • here are two links of tevin performing live in 1998 or 1999.

    watch?v=nHaTf_CR0AY

    watch?v=oMcq2sJgdKc

  • @cerberusdest What is the argument going on here? T.C and MJ were the best male singers to come around imo.

  • Also, it might help you to know that Tevin's growth as a a singer was severely stunted just before the new millenium due to his sexual solicitation case and cocaine. He not only stopped singing due to retiring, but also got his voice destroyed by crack. Some of what you perceive as the stasis of his voice after 30 years is due to his voice being completely out of sorts and badly damaged after a long hiatus. By 1998, his voice was becoming quite spectacular but then he had his career cut short.

  • To sum up, stylistic maturity is one of the hallmarks of a true artist but having it doesn't make you a good vocalist. And the truth is Tevin is one of the greatest vocalists of all time. I hope I've made myself clear now. Also please stay away from making general statements like "By saying that you made my point. 20+ years of no change is immaturity." I was in no way making your point. :D

  • On the other hand, you may very well describe his obsession with Aretha Franklin' style and his attempt to replicate it immature. But this was never the point you were making. You were making the point that from the way it sounds, IE high and trebly unlike Neyo's deeper voice, Tevin's voice was somehow immature. This is not true. Tevin's voice has always been mature in every aspect.

  • this dude is finee

  • I disagree. Tevin has a similar voice, but he doesn't dance and he doesn't write his own music. I have every CD Tevin has ever made but from a pure singing stand point, Tevin's voice is nowhere near as mature as Neyo's. The difference is when Tevin was on his game he had the ability to connect with his fans, Neyo for whatever reason doesn't, But I would stack (Do You and So Sick) against anything Tevin made and remember Neyo worte those songs Tevin didn't write any of his biggest hits.

  • @Terryman1960 Define vocal maturity, because in terms of vocal range, power, and control Tevin is one of the greatest of all time. If you're talking about musical maturity, sure, Tevin was never really into pop music anyway, so Neyo might be the better pop musician. But you can't diss one of the greatest voices ever born like that... Tevin is nearly on par with the highest tier of female greats like AF, WH, PL

Look at it like this Tevin could sing every one of Neyo's songs but not vice versa.

  • @cerberusdest See my comment below on vocal maturity. Tevin's voice has yet to mature. As to Tevin being into to pop, well that's debateable. He was on all the pop stations when I was stationed in Seattle, Upstate New York, Japan, Korea, and Germany. I do believe that Neyo could sing Tevin's songs because they do have a similar sound, but Neyo is a richer sound. And remember, I am saying this as a fan of Tevin's. I wouold love to hear some new music from him and see if he has grown.

  • @Terryman1960 To understand Tevin's style, you need to understand that he has been vastly influenced by female musicians only, and has grown up in a female dominant household. Tevin idolized Aretha as a child; he has on numerous occassions confirmed this; his mother, who was the driving force behind his becoming a singer, was called a "little Aretha Franklin" in her own time. Tevin's treble singing is a stylistic choice, not a sign of immaturity.

  • That said, it is a quite stubborn and retroactive thing Tevin is doing with his voice, since he is clinging to a style he first began practicing when he was young, but nonetheless the natural maturity of Tevin's voice is tremendous to begin with. Neyo never has and never will come close to Tevin in that respect.

  • @Terryman1960 neyo aint got shit on tevin campbell. neyo maybe able to dance but when your "listening" to music his dance moves dont really count. neyo's a pop tart not a r&b legend.

  • @nebbielalaz very elagantly said. Let me say it this way. Play the songs Tomorrow and back on the block then watch the video of him in Hairspray and you will see that Tevin's voice is the same yet he has aged. there is no change in his sound, his voice is high pitched all treable, no mid range, no bass. As for Neyo's dance moves you are right they don't count. But you have to give it up to him on having the ability to hit more notes within the vocal scale than Tevin.

  • @Terryman1960 the use of "mid range" and "bass" does not make a voice mature. It is a stylistic choice by Tevin and also the nature of his voice to sing in a high pitch treble voice, not the result of his voice not "maturing" after 20+ years of singing. Your personal preference is getting the way of your judgement here... You claim to be a tevin fan but it is clear you prefer Neyo stylistically.

  • @cerberusdest By saying that you made my point. 20+ years of no change is immaturity. As to mid range and bass, you're correct it doesn't make the voice mature, but it does give the voice a richer sound. Your'e also correct in saying that I prefer Neyo stylistically. But then Neyo made his own style, while Quincy Jones made Tevins. Let's be truthful, they are both good singers especially when real sigers are lacking. What's sad is that Tevin is not recording and singers are lacking.

  • @Terryman1960 Let's be clear here because I do not like obscurantism in didactics. You are making a sweeping generalization when you say that because 1) Tevin's voice is high pitched and treble and 2) hasn't changed, his voice is immature. The high pitch treble style is a choice he makes deliberately. It is the voice he aspires to. The point you were making was that this voice is "immature". This is not true.

  • @Terryman1960 It is his style that you could say is immature, not his voice. So, I am really addressing your point about the qualities of Neyo and Tevin's voices. Your point was that Neyo had something vocally that Tevin had yet to attain. Not true. Vocally Tevin is in a place where Neyo will never be, period. Stylistically, maybe Tevin's not so mature. Makes sense considering he has never made had significant musical impact. But I hope we're clear now. Neyo is stylistically mature.

  • Mamipleaza, although I am not a fan of his, but NEYO can do this.

  • @Terryman1960 hahhahhah neyo is nowhere near this man....get cha mind right bruh

  • dis the music i grew up 2...

  • I miss the ol school flavor of long songs. This crap they call music now in the 2000's is crazy. I'm 41 and my sons that are 23 & 16 still enjoy this music.

  • Fucks wrong with ol boys head.

  • It's sad that a song like this would never even be a hit on todays radio. What has happened to music?

  • OMG...THIS SONG IS BANGIN I AINT HEARD IT IN LIKE 12 YRS...IT JUST BROUGHT BACK LIKE MEMORIES FOR REAL...LOL...

  • such a beatiful voice!never to forget!

  • He was saying "His name Is Tevin Campbell"

They cut off the first part

  • Powerline!

  • what i want tevin to do is come back to the music industry lol

  • REAL SINGING..NO AUTOTUNE

  • very good

  • 1:43 that girl is stone cold

  • i aint am no gay

  • Tevin had an absolute phenomenal and anointed voice. I don't believe anyone has these vocal capabilities in this days r&b. Maybe someone such as Rkelly but that's it. And to anyone who said that he was lipsyncing your an idiot. He was a young kid so therefore it was easier for him to reach those octaves. An he worked with people like Quincy, I'm more then sure he had a top of the line vocal coach.

  • @jdey570 Everybody Lip sync on Soul Train I dont Why . it is a Dumb Tradition of Soul TRain.

  • @OklaHomaDummy Also Everybody Was Lip Syncing On American Bandstand, Top Of The Pops Too!! =)
