  • dans cette superbe version d'Otello(pour moi la meilleur du siècle)vickers est le plus grand otello et glossop le meilleur iago il faut dire merci à la mise en scène

  • Good singing but poor acting.

  • I was working backstage at the Sadlers Wells when Peter and Joyce were starring. What a fantastic pair of voices. Joyce as Carmen will always be my STANDARD Carmen.

Peter in Tosca I shall never forget, also with CharlesCraig in Pearlfishers. Fantastic.

    John W in Australia

  • Does anyone rememer Joyce Blackham or have any clips of her singing? She's my Dad's cousin and I was a baby when he and Peter saw me. I've never been able to find her whereabouts.

Viva Verdi!!!!! Genio!!!!! Dios!!!!

  • Peter Glossop was one of the first names mentioned to me when I started to learn to sing, and as I've progressed and met more people, especially baritones of a certain vintage, the affection and admiration which he inspired is matched only by the amount of stories. Everyone seems to have a Glossop anecdote and an opinion on his career. An underrated figure, probably due to the shocking lack of recordings, but without doubt the best British Verdi baritone, and up there with the best around.

  • Sorry, one of the two bests!

  • This is the best Credo I've ever heard. I've just found it on youtube.

  • Bah, you should hear Gobbi's: It's too better!

  • Look on my favourites and you will find, wath I did mean, when I wrote: one of the two bests. ;-)

  • What Devilish aria!

  • Hee Hee...this is my dad and I'm very proud of him!! Thanks for posting!

  • wow! such an honor to meet u!...Glossop is definitely a genious of his era...my deepest apreciation =)

Would you tell me what;s hes been up to lately? thx!

  • My dad has been retired now for many years and lives in Dorset. My sister and I visit him as much as we can as we live near London. He is living a gentle quiet life now but has good friends and his first ex wife close by. Thanks for your message - it's always nice to speak to his fans

  • Its a small world, If your on about Joyce Blackham/Deacon as his first wife, that is my great Aunt.

  • Yes that's right! Small world!

  • I have another hee, hee for you, I have sitting beside me Ivor Mosley, whose father taught your dad in his early days in Sheffield. He enjoyed watching this clip ;)

  • That's wonderful! Unfortunately my dad is now not great with his memory as he has althzeimers so if I asked him he probably wouldn't remember. Did Ivor read my dad's autobiography? Good to talk to you!

  • Ivor Mosley says he is very sorry to hear about your father's condition. If ever it is appropriate please do pass on his regards. They are the same age, both celebrate the big 80 this year ;) Ivor has not yet read your Dad's autobiography, he will see if he can get a copy.

  • @AmberGlossop Big fan of your dad's! I love his Billy Budd the most, but this is wonderful to show his range. Makes my Billy sound like a child.

  • great baritone
