the art of tea, my first michael franks album. been a fan ever since. backup musicians are some of the greats of 70's jazz including the (jazz) crusaders. check out the album's/cd's credits.
I worked for Buddah Records at the time of this recording. Buddah distributed the Brut record label, Michael was one of their artists and I am SO glad he is still performing. His latest CD is fabulous. Check it out on Amazon.com!
Yeah, that must be why so many talented people perform with him. I'm sure Manolo Badrena, Steve Gadd, Will Lee, Ralph MacDonald, Joe Sample, Wilton Felder, Larry Carlton, David Sanborn, Michael Brecker, and Lee Rittenauer all just did it for the money.
@peterpix1 rap is not a type of music. hip hop is though and theres a ton of great hip hop but you just gotta look deeper than what you heard on the radio
This was the song my husband used to sing to me a MILLION years ago. Yes, I do have very, very cold toes. Hmmmm, could that just be poor circulation! I love Michael Franks
You Have to understand When this song was made he couldn't just say I Love You Breast Your Body Lets Have S**. It Wasn't Allowed then And he came out with a clever way to express himself. Love This Song
@KatMaster123008 -- Au contrare! I bought this (on cassette) around 1977 or '78. We were anything but prudes and we're the reason saying it like it is got so outta hand. But I particularly dug Mike Franks because he gave us a gentler way to hear music (like Steeley Dan and Jon Lucien and Esther Sadderfield and Angela Bofill) and fusion jazz and, of course, vintage jazz greats) for a peaceful Sunday afternoon after a Saturday night with Sly and Parliament and Rick James blasting! Good stuff.
Okay- this song is maybe a lil bit schmaltzy & slighty kinky in a pervy "children of the corn" sorta way BUT can YOU think of a better song that combines bithday clothes, roses, posicle toes, see-saws and cake?!! Okay the cake is NOT included- neither are the batteries... some assembly is required AND shipping and handling charges may apply... but still !
So called Sports Illustrated football writer guru Peter King was quoted in his column as saying: "The worst song of all time, "Popsicle Toes,'' was playing as I went into my neighborhood coffee shop in Boston's South End the other day. "Worst song of all time,'' I said to the friendly barista, who said to me cheerily: "We seem to play a lot of those.'' And now, five days later, I can't get the damn thing out of my head. Help." he went to the world cup by the way he's a huge FREELOADER
THANK you so much for posting this!! I've been looking and hoping for this to be uploaded to Youtube for so long! What memories this song brings back :^)

Time flies. Hug them often. Listen to them. Don't talk at them, talk TO them.

If you like smooth Jazz, try another great artist. Search for Tom Grant "Happy Feet",
"Angles Crossing" or "Fantasy". Tom sings, plays the keyboard or piano.
