It is NOT true that all young Americans lack proper education but the level is much lower than that in Europe. However, i do believe that religious upbringing holds back a lot of bright young Americans. I loved the people in the U.S.A. but i dont like what the country does around the world.

I know that not all US kids in the US are dumb! As I tried to explain, when I see a "stupid" comment (and frankly yours wasn't that stupid) about how evolution doesn't exist and showing a real fundamental lack of understanding of science, the scientific method, what a theory is, etc, I can usually be sure that it is an American in their 20s.

It takes more courage to try and find God - or the ultimate questions about our existence than to rely on antiquated theories to soothe your aching souls. What is the supernatural? It is there millions testify to supernatural experiences.Sam must believe it isn't real because science can't explain it. I place my confidence in an after life thru Jesus. Your second question is even easier to answer. It is an appeal to ignorance. "You don't know the answer to "X", therefore accept/believe my answer."

It is OK to say you don't know something. I'm not sure of the origins on the universe, but I won't believe something without evidence just to make myself feel better. Which is exactly what you do and you even admit as much with your post.

I truly find Sam Harris to be one of the great minds of this generation. His understanding of religions and their effect on our world is remarkable. His book "The End of Faith" changed my life literally, and I recommend that everyone read it.
