these things make there power due to the lack of moving parts in simple talk, less friction you have in a moving motor the more power you make. should be more reliable and economical for this reason but they do have there down sides

It's a higher efficiency engine, but there are less shops with mechanics that know what to do with them, so even though there have been pistonless rotary cars, trucks and even motorcycles since the 1950s, public adoption of the idea has been pretty low... I'm actually inclined to /tin foil hat on the reason why this is, e.g. overall fuel efficiency being bad for petro sales.

GM did try the rotary...but they weren't the only ones to try it. The rotary almost single-handedly killed the American automotive industry. There were plans for a rotary powered Corvette by GM and whatnot. A lot of money was invested by GM in particular for R&D to put together a rotary that'd pass emissions, be efficient, etc. It could not be done apparently. If I remember correctly, this was late 70s, early 80s? I read a book about it several years ago. Very interesting.

You can tell the rotary engine is so damn good because look at what everyone compares them to, v8s! you're comparing a little 1.3L-2.6L engine to a 5L-10L engine. and the rotary wins a good portion of the time which is physically amazing. Sure push rod engines are more durable cause they have been in the making for 100+ years, but they need more way more than twice the displacement to push the same numbers as a rotary

@JulianoRamirez yea... but for every 4 strokes of a piston you get 1 power-stroke whereas a spinning rotor produces 3 power-strokes per full revolution.. thus more power but less fuel efficiency. I love rotaries.. owning a Sachs Wankel engine from an Arctic Cat snowmobile... but they are very fuel inefficient.
