  • "Lemonade was a popular drink and it still is."

The most cryptic line in Hip-Hop history.

Illuminati? Aliens? Masons? the Kennedy assassination? An unassuming declarative statement about a staple American beverage?

    You be the judge.

  • isn't it OWYCK? or is that another song

  • lemonade was a popular drink and it still is/i get more props and stunts than bruce willis

  • This is real Hip-Hop at its fullest. Most definiteley the golden years. Listening to the creativity that hip hop artists had back then makes me so disappointed at the state of hip hop today. There is no creativity nowadays. Everybody is trying to do the same thing. that is why music is failing.

  • ILLLLL...Smooth tore dat mike up!! Damn I miss real Mcs man!!!

  • The flow and material from back in the late 80's to mid 90's was SICK!.

  • yo damn right, you cant beat old school. Def beats new school. im sick of all thi fake electro hip hop with the synthesized voices. What the hell is all that about? Easy flash money makin one hit wonders i guess. But with the old school they will always stay with you. And youll always remember.

  • Papzilla....riot.

  • fuck fake hip hop rap = lil wayne, tpain 50 cent, e.t.c also devil worshiping jayz, fuck illumanati fake ass puppet commercial material hip hop.

    THIS IS REAL HIPHOP !

coming from a 18 year old nuff said, now bob ur head to this.

  • "lemonade was a popular drink and it still is. i get more props and stunts than bruce willis" one of the best rap lines ever

  • gangstarr and the whole 90's era need to come back wit more hits..and stop these weak ass rap niggas in the game today

  • @trakzproductionz you speak the truth my dog

  • @trakzproductionz this shit should have 1000000000000000000000000000000000000 hits fans at shit lol

  • @trakzproductionz Premo never left. You need to check out independent hip hop

  • @DanaBfrom207 yea premo never left..but hes not in the lime light like he was back in the 90's when the mainstream was hiphop..you get wut im sayin b?...

  • @trakzproductionz He produced most of Christina Aquilera's last album... sorry to drop that one on ya! ;)

  • love it

  • "Clips are inserted inside my gun so I can take the money never have to run" Fire!

  • does smooth sound like Dres from Black Sheep or what.

  • more like, Dres sounds like Smooth B. Nice& Smooth were ouy back in 88-89. Black Sheep came along @ 92-93 I think?

  • i left my blunt at home do your have an other............

  • i left my philly at home, do you have another? i wanna get blunted my brother

  • Old school hip-hop on the beach, dancin having a great time with half naked chicks doesnt get any better than that!

  • agree 100 percent!!

  • "lemonade was popular drink and it still is" CLASSIC!

  • the videographer on gangstaars part SUCKKKKKKKKS

  • i want get blunted my brotha...

at the time that was the sh*t...!!!

  • lemonade was a popular drink and it still is/ i get more more props and stunts than bruce willis/-Classic

  • simply doesn't get better than this....

  • 1992 the Golden Age of Hip-Hop was in progress!!!

    CLASSIC!!

  • I agee wit ya! 90's was the best hip hop era! now there playing mostly garbage now a days!

  • "I say butter you say Parkey"

  • Who came out with this bass line first? Diamond D or Premier?

  • Diamond D ... I think . Plus Diamond's hit harder

  • I don't know who flipped it first but Preme's was released first. They both were dope but I like Preme's flip better.

  • i really think some of you are taking it wrong. he was not talking in the literal form. i as a young person and now a man always felt when he said "clips are inserted into my gun so I can take the money never have to run" he meant VERBALLY. at least that is what i felt. just my opinion.

  • There's something really hilarious about the bit where Greg Nice says "Greg Niiiiiiiiiice!" and then the name appears in text on the screen

  • This was my shit yeah dawggggg

  • haha werrrrrrd

  • classic

  • aaaaah shiiiit yeah

  • in response to weedphilsophers comment, Gang Starr is AGRESSIVE but does talk about violence frequently. Just listen to this song: "clips are inserted into my gun so I can take the money never have to run" and "too late when they dip for their clip they get sprayed. One of the illest mcs of the early 90s and still is today, but u need to listen to your songs before discussing the content of it

  • I can't deny that.. He really uses that violent content frequently. But what I meant was that he is ill and he isn't due to his agressiveness, but due to his lyrics. About the guns.. street life is though my friend, and I'm glad that I´ve never had to live it myself.. but it for sure takes special measures to go past. I think that Guru with that speech refers more to a Tupac's "thug Life" ideal than rather go round assaulting people for fun and riches.. now what I mean? ;) good comment though.

  • Nothin like this here!!This is dat real hip hop. Wasn't too crazy about Nice and Smooth, but the whole hip hop vibe was real back in these days. Thanks for posting.

  • "lemonade was a popular drink and it still is, i get more stunts and kicks than bruce willis" -GURU

  • Hearing these joints is like jumpin in a time capsul. To the Dope Years. Please, bring this Hip-Hop back to the forefront...

  • whats with the name of the song?

  • Do

    What

    You

    Can

    Kid

  • i c thanks dude, :}

  • thanks for that....all these years i never knew what DWYCK stood for lol....

  • @marcolotr yes the chicks in the video let you forget its name lol

  • I just love GangStarr because Guru is SO FUCKING AGRESSIVE without even having to use violence. he really believes in the power of words rather than guns, so he kicks others by his discurse. And whata kick! Anyway, someone who works with DjPremier's fat rhytms and beats on the "back" would always have his "neck" protected..

  • Classic! DJ Premier was on top of his game. Guru and Nice & Smooth killed it! Real hip-hop! "92' huh, one year later/peace out Premier take me out with the fader/"

  • ....oh yeahh, its a sure shot....

yeahh, i love these premier beats, love 2 gangstarr & nice and smooth....phattazzdopekickdashitofflavournumberone...love this....

    mfg

  • Primo did not gets just props. Dude was just so good with his he was taken for granted. Real simple breaks, but this is still fire. Rhymes are tight!!!!!!!!

  • Primo may not have before, but he sure gets his props now.

  • "don't neva eva think of jerkin me, I work too hard for my royalty, put lead in ya ass and drink a cup of tea..." beyond gangsta dog!

  • the greatest.

    keepin it real.

  • lemonade was a popular drink at it still is...

  • this beat gos hard, not primos usual style but still dope

  • Hiya!!! Could someone (bad-english-speaking) what "i get more probs den stunts den Bruce willis" means? Its too much slang for me :-(

  • "I get more props and stunts than Bruce Willis." Does it make sense now?

  • stunts or stuns (which is it?) being women ;)

  • At that time in NY- "props" was a slang word that meant respect. If you knew alot of people that had your back whenever you needed them or at any given moment you had "mad props" hence the metaphor " I get more "props" and stunts than Bruce Willis"

  • Another classic gets some love. Anyone care to explain how we went from this to today's "rap"? Skill and technique got passed over for bling and gangsta bullshit. Let's see if this generation's so-called hip-hop will even be remembered come the next decade. Classics stand the test of time, period.

  • money!!!

and real hip hop doesnt get record deals anymore

  • just when you thought synthetic substitution was played out. premier puts it in his s950

  • Your right this is in the top ten Breaks of all time.

  • abosolutley one of the best tracks of all time...no doubt

  • this beat was rated the number one underground beat in hip hop history they are correc the beat was produced by dj premier

  • put led in your ass and drink a cup a tea.

  • eeny mini miny moe, i wreck the mic like a pimp pimps hoes!!!

  • 5/5

  • AMEN!!

    you got that budd.

    they at coney islan right?

i thought they were, am i???

  • there's a lot of them women in the video feelin' on themselves, can I get an AMEN? YEAH! :p

  • A blast from the past !!

  • Whatever happened to music like this? I can listen to this and never get tired of it.

  • Know what you mean, wish they still did it like this. I don't think anyone can get tired of this, even though its old school, it shows people are still listening to it! Hip-Hop today wont be old school in 20 years time, it will be forgotten!

  • You hit it on the head, my dude.

  • I love this joint.

  • its too bad greg nice's dancing never caught on

  • Lemonade was a popular drink and it still is.

  • I get more props and stunts than Bruce Willis.

  • The glorious era of hip-hop.

    Shit ain't the same nomore.

  • For some reason, this song popped into my head today, but I couldn't remember the name of the song, or what artist. But I knew the song cold and kept playing it over and over in my head until I got a clue.

It worked, and when I played the song I had to shake my head and laugh. This was soooooooooooooo long ago, but a classic none the less.

  • What does DWYCK stand for?

  • "Do What You Can Kid"

  • Ooooh la la ah oui oui !!!

  • Yo my people, this is one of those joints I can't even begin to explain. I'm really on some sh** right now. Fkn classic! Shout out to the hood! My hood nks!

  • My favorite Gangstarr track!

  • One Of The 1st rhyme's i've learned as a youngin ...i rapped it at my uncle funeral ...didnt know anybetter but hey..this song had a big impact on me @ 6yrs old lmao RIP UNCLE B.

  • ONE OF DJ PREMIRE'S BEST BEAT EVER

  • can someone tell me what this song means. i hear the words but i think dwyck is meaning something else.

  • Dwyck - Do What you can kid
