Why in the world would someone place an INFRARED cam in a toilet? And even if they do, why in the world would an IR cam emit IR waves? They capture IR waves not emit them—unlike your TV remote.
This is a perfect example of a moron trying to teach science. The remote is for testing your camera to see if it picks up IR. Not very many hidden cameras will have IR LED's. Web cam's never have them. Only the cheap security video cameras and the newer camcorders with the "night vision" setting. No one is going to hide one of those in a bathroom. I can see the paranoid druggies snooping all the cracks and crevices with their camera phones... wasting a perfectly good buzz for nothing.
It's useful guys when they're using night vision or infrared cameras. Just open your phones camera and try to look "by phones screen", if there is a camera on the spot you can see that light on the screen. Think twice when you are saying "It's not useful"
No it does not only show up on the actual video, apparently you have never tried it. Second no it is not the cheap cameras this works on... Holy crap is there anything you actually know or do you just say random shit to disagree with people? The light will appear on the types of cameras that have infrared lenses, it will show up in the viewfinder. and it is not limited to sony cams as some suggest. Look for 0 LUX cameras..
1. I never stated it wouldn't show up on video - quite the opposite in fact.
2. High end cameras use infrared filters so that it only records light people can see - most hand-held digital cameras will catch it but if you actually spend over $700 there's little likeliness of it not using a filter. A cell phone works.
3. This won't detect cameras - only where infrared is being emitted. AKA ones built for night viewing. As a result, this isn't a good technique for finding decent hidden cameras.
"That makes no sense. That light only appears on the actual video. And only on cheap camera's, anyway." I stated it doesn't ONLY show up on video, it can be seen on the View Screen (viewfinder). MANY "Highend" cameras have the ability to defeat their own IR filter (usually by moving it)so they can be used as a 0 LUX camera. (Even cheap cameras can have IR filters.)
The title says for infrared hidden cameras...
Thanks for proving my point though, more random shit just to disagree with people.
