The advantages of this form of leadership are obvious. It cannot be diverted for long and it cannot be stopped when individuals are killed, imprisoned or otherwise incapacitated.

Mousavi is a figurehead of this movement rather than a leader . His Recent statement is very prudent and well thought through, but it is only a reflection of the movement's wider objectives and not his own. If he was a leader it would have been his own initiative to release such a statement (and probably many months ago) and not bow to the pressure coming from the movement. So by definition he is being led and not leading.

it's funny, i just watched a BBC interview with Mousavi in which he clearly said that the continuation of Iran's nuclear program is NON NEGOTIABLE. Yet, CBS claims Mousavi has expressed otherwise, trying to put him in stark contrast to Ahmadinejad on that particular subject. CBS is either blatantly distorting the facts, lying or simply taking on poetic licenses for propaganda purposes. It's a shame american media have to do so.

Because Ahmadinejad is the face most of us in the west recognize. You show most people a picture of the Ayatollah and they wouldn't know who he is. Sad truth, basically. That and Ahmadinejad is the most vocal, while Khamenei tends to rule from "behind the curtain". You're right though, people need to be protesting the Ayatollah instead of the president.
