Bulleh Shah has put so much philosophy in this love poetry that one has to call him the greatest poet and philosopher of the last 1300 years, equal to Ghalib. They should be made compulsory reading in the schools of Pakistan, India and other countries(after proper translation). In this context Kacha is the opposite of Sacha (true or real). Murh na laee too sar hamari, baatan teriyan kachiyan we. Means You never came back to check on me, your words are empty.

It is hard to explain in English. Part of the meaning has to do with cultural influences of the time when this beautiful poetry was written.

The explanation of RanjitSingh reminds me how our teacher used to explain the meaning of Ghalib by examples.

here is the meaning of the line:

Birhon Katari Tun Kass Maari

Birhon means "being away from lover" and Katari is a small knife, comes from word "kataar", which is "knife". So first line means "You attacked me with the knife of being away from me". Means, lover is away from me and it is like killing me.

"Tad Mein Hoi aan Bedil bhari" means "that is why I am so much dishearted"
