In other words the problem was not "socialized health care" but rather too much latitude given to private insurance companies LMRP's to deny claims submitted for reimbursement under Medicare.

Now on the topic of Hawaii's socialized medicine: Hawaii can afford socialized medicine due to its enormous tourist and fishing industries and a relatively small steady permanent population. If they can afford it, then good for them. I am glad it works for them, but the US as a whole simply doesn't have the money.

The problem is that the U.S. spends about 17% of it's GDP on health care, compared to, for example 10% of GDP for Canada, even though Canada has no co-payments, deductibles or caps and covers everyone.

Your "claim" also doesn't consider that you are forcing millions of uninsured to use the emergency wards - the most expensive form of h.c. delivery, doesn't put any figure on the extra h.c. costs involved in the uninsured delaying seeing a doctor until a medical condition has worsened.
