please do ur research, the medication companies r liars. schizophrenia and almost any other mental illness CAN actually be cured(in some cases just lessened about 70 percent) i have schizophrenia, trust me "medication" does not actually treat the illness just the symptoms and not even well. the true cause believe it or not is diet. the processed garbage we eat is the true cause. type in "the gaps diet" in youtube for more info.
i take a low dose of risperdal 0.5mg a night and i went from 210 pounds to 271 in almost two years time and i am disgusted. this is disturbing that doctors prescribe these poisons to people so far i had a blood clot in lung that could have killed me few months back i don't know if it was from the risperdal or not.

There's no fucking chemical medication in the world that would ever cure u mentally. It should be illegal drugs. Life is hard so u got to be harder. Start training don't be hopeless, it's a fiction you create yourself. I got 10 disorders according to those fuckers. This guy keeps mentioning Zyprexa (Olanzapine). There are other, better, second generation anti-psychotic drugs out there that don't cause the massive weight gain and higher mortality that's associated with Zyprexa. Not all of these drugs are like what he describes.

I am on 37,5mgs of risperdal and I lay in bed all day and cry and can´t remember my mom or dad and I used to have a IQ of 125 now I have 70. My life is a waste. I have given up on everything. I don´t even want women anymore. I will never have kids because of the drug.

I wanted to say the voices came back and they were gone because at the time I was on a diet I went on a retreat no television no telephone just read and go out.Now I hear it's quite again because I went on the retreat again I thought it was the diet sorry it's the television. I havn't seen it in a month and i feel better the voices in my ear stop bothering me i still hear thoughts but it was much worst when I was watching TV. Zyprexa and Citaloprame saved my life. I thought there were invisible aliens which were demons out to kill me. I thought cameras were everywhere watching me. I felt like i had an implant in my brain and i could telapathically hear them talking about killing me,"We will grab him by the balls and drag him across the floor". @leelyndaa So sugar can trigger somthing in your brain? Im rather interisted to hear about this. My brother will somtimes not eat at all and just tank up on sugar. When he refuses to take his medication he hallucinates and see and also hears things that are not there. Me and my parents are at our wits end about this. What works for you?

Risperdal almost killed me. I survived, clearly, but now am so mentally altered that some days i would rather be dead. I would rather be a little delusional than brain damaged. Some of my side effects: akathisia, tardive diskinesia, horrible pain in mind/body, difficulty feeling love or joy, stiff face that can only make a few expressions and many, many, more.

I don't agree that prayer fixes or solves schizophrenia. I have schizophrenia and anxiety, I have prayed thousands of times for the same thing and never has it been answered, so I just don't pray anymore.

Too many holes in this argument. He doesn't give alternatives, and what's he talking about mortality rates 1 death in every 125 people who take the drug. He doesn't say that the drugs are directly attributed to the deaths, are they dying from, acute physical reaction to the drugs,or are they jumping out of windows or getting into car accidents? And as far as the weight gain side effect, I'm pretty sure most would choose mental stability over physical ability any day.
@snake10566 In many cases no...but people that physically cannot help it due to chemical imbalances in their brains, some drugs are a helpful for them. They arnt supposed to be crutches, just aids for the physical aspect. you yourself still have to overcome the depression and just not let the medicine work and not do anything else about it because that won't work. Plus the most frustrating thing is finding the medicine that is right for you and your specific predicament. Its trial and error.
Let me tell you what causes weight gain. Inactivity. Take your medication. Get out and do something physically active (this is basically how the human body is supposed to work, being in motion), and stop sitting on your asses complaining that the medication is making you fat. Take some fucking responsability for your fucking lives. A drug isn`t supposed to solve the problem alone. It`s soppused to be a tool to help you do it.

@mcfizzle420 Very true, I know because I have experienced it first hand. I had been on antipsychotic injections for close to 2 years (risperdal consta for over a year.) I gained 100 pounds while on that horrible shit. Now after a hellish year of being off of it, I've lost that 100 pounds, leaving me with piles of disgusting skin and many health problems. I still have mild tardive diskinesia and probably will for the rest of my life. Add to that the anxiety that I'm still trying to shake..
@mcfizzle420 I like your thinking but it was smoking too many joints in the first place that got me put on anti-psychotics. I decided to stop taking them last week and I've already lost weight. I try to only smoke a couple of joints a week now but it's hard giving up something you've done everyday for years.

Also, if your doctor prescribes any drug for you that has been on the market for less than 7 years, that drug is still in Stage 4 testing by Big Pharma.

Prayer, meditation and self-examination practiced daily keep me balanced enough to function realistically- realistically. These drugs he is talking about, and I have taken them, do not produce the desired results like prayer, meditation and self-examination. PLUS, as MrOppy678 mentions below- MUSIC is a tremendous antidote for centering the mind.
@kewldude1958 For sevear cases prayer doesnt do much for the Schizophrinic person. My brother for example does not take his medication and goes nuts. Commenly a person with Shizophrenia would not take their medication and think they funtion just fine.

When I got perscribed Risperdal I gained around 30 pounds the first year. Was not warned about it. I am blessed though was diagnosed with Schitsophrenaform(spell?) and it went away after awhile. I stopped taking my meds because they didnt work and I started praying. Prayer yielded the highest results.

This guy keeps mentioning Zyprexa (Olanzapine). There are other, better, second generation anti-psychotic drugs out there that don't cause the massive weight gain and higher mortality that's associated with Zyprexa. Not all of these drugs are like what he describes.

I wanted to say the voices came back and they were gone because at the time I was on a diet I went on a retreat no television no telephone just read and go out.Now I hear it's quite again because I went on the retreat again I thought it was the diet sorry it's the television. I havn't seen it in a month and i feel better the voices in my ear stop bothering me i still hear thoughts but it was much worst when I was watching TV. I read and use the computer for now much better.So turn the tv off.

My girlfriends father (the biological one) has paranoid schizofrenia and is in a psychiatric clinic in Germany. She was four years old when her killed her mother in front of hers and her two sisters eyes. The girls including my girlfriend got adopted by aunt and uncle. Too many holes in this argument. He doesn't give alternatives, and what's he talking about mortality rates 1 death in every 125 people who take the drug. He doesn't say that the drugs are directly attributed to the deaths, are they dying from, acute physical reaction to the drugs,or are they jumping out of windows or getting into car accidents? And as far as the weight gain side effect, I'm pretty sure most would choose mental stability over physical ability any day.

They arnt supposed to be crutches, just aids for the physical aspect. you yourself still have to overcome the depression and just not let the medicine work and not do anything else about it because that won't work. Plus the most frustrating thing is finding the medicine that is right for you and your specific predicament. Its trial and error.

Let me tell you what causes weight gain. Inactivity. Take your medication. Get out and do something physically active (this is basically how the human body is supposed to work, being in motion), and stop sitting on your asses complaining that the medication is making you fat. Take some fucking responsability for your fucking lives. A drug isn`t supposed to solve the problem alone. It`s soppused to be a tool to help you do it.

I gained 100 pounds while on that horrible shit. Now after a hellish year of being off of it, I've lost that 100 pounds, leaving me with piles of disgusting skin and many health problems. I still have mild tardive diskinesia and probably will for the rest of my life. Add to that the anxiety that I'm still trying to shake..

@mcfizzle420 I like your thinking but it was smoking too many joints in the first place that got me put on anti-psychotics. I decided to stop taking them last week and I've already lost weight. I try to only smoke a couple of joints a week now but it's hard giving up something you've done everyday for years.

Now that you are off of them smoke freely and I hope you get your old weight back. I was in the same position but coming out of a juvenile prison and began smoking as normal. severe deep unrelenting trauma will cause anybody to become schizophrenic. the doctors never really go into the why but more focused on the measurable, quantifiable so as not to be labelled as pseudo-science. the mind is more complex than simply popping a pill to up a certain chemical. like turning up the water pressure without fixing the leak.

It still amazes me how screwed-up these drugs are that Big Pharma pushes on us. I took Amoxycillin about 2 years ago and I was in a living hell of itching and skin crawling for 2 weeks. And I only took that garbage for 2 days.
But then I started my Oxygen Therapy Program. I used oxygen to clean all that crap out of my system.

That fucking risperidone gave me tartive dyskenesia and so did abilify. Zyprexa didn't but it made me SOOO fat. Antipsychotics are all bad bad GARBAGE for the mind soul and body.

Bravo! A very wise & brave man. I despise the so called anti-depressants as well. Tried 8 & NEVER ONCE had any relief. Only MORE problems with terrible side effects, over 100 lb wt gain, shaking feeling like electrical shocks, loss of memory, lowered cognitive function U name it. Vet w/ PTSD Over 20 yrs of flashback nightmares & anxiety attacks. 3 yrs ago I spent a week learning EFT. Since then I have NOT had a SINGLE PANIC ATTACK or any NIGHTMARES! No more pills! This guy bores me to death like the people at my weekly group..all they do is talk about the pills they are on...i dont have insurance so forget them. I used to use pot for my disorder but I then its illeagle and ramps up my anxiety.
Any other options ?;besides alcohol it makes me MPD.
Sometimes valarian root helps or melotonin if i just want to pass out to do away with it.
Zyprexia did nothng but makes me pass out also. I miss being in psych ward...those people understood me.

Prayer, meditation and self-examination practiced daily keep me balanced enough to function realistically- realistically. These drugs he is talking about, and I have taken them, do not produce the desired results like prayer, meditation and self-examination. PLUS, as MrOppy678 mentions below- MUSIC is a tremendous antidote for centering the mind.

@kewldude1958 For sevear cases prayer doesnt do much for the Schizophrinic person. My brother for example does not take his medication and goes nuts. Commenly a person with Shizophrenia would not take their medication and think they funtion just fine.

When I got perscribed Risperdal I gained around 30 pounds the first year. Was not warned about it. I am blessed though was diagnosed with Schitsophrenaform(spell?) and it went away after awhile. I stopped taking my meds because they didnt work and I started praying. Prayer yielded the highest results.

It s the chemical name.
Other medicines i also tested were olanzanpin and paliperidon.
they didn t helped me or only a bit .The side effects are strong !!!!

ok not arguing for or against this guy BUT I did find that last part interesting where he went on about the mortality rate, and I get that, but what he hasn't told us was how many were in the study if it was 125 people them this is negligble could just be a chance death and then why extrapleate from that to get what he thinks is the total # of deaths since that info would also be available...... very odd he didn't dig it uo!!!
