I have one exactly like your but different color. It's my first bike as well. I absolutely love it. Just enough power to have fun with it but not to much power for beginners. You put any mods on it or are you thinking about it?

well I know its a personal choice...but if you want a bigger bike why dont you just go with a GSXR1000? it wont be much more than the 750 and you'll have the extra power...but again, I know its a personal choice...good luck with the buy!

i want to upgrade thou i want fuel injected 600cc or higher but this bike is awsome i would recomend it to anybody that is starting out and they dont want a 250 cause it has some power and will lift the front tire off the ground if you are not carefull

I have an 01. I think it makes a great tourer as well. Plus that highend power for some sporting action. Kawasaki is going to phase the 500 out completely. I think they should keep it and instead of calling it a beginner bike they should add it to the sport/touring lineup.

Well not really. The 250 with all its updates is now firmly established as a beginners bike. The 500 is only 100cc from 600. It really has no place. Most beginners are going to the 250 because all in all it is the safer of the 2 to start on. I would never recommend anyone to use a 500 as their very first bike. Its light and forgiving but if you rev it high in the rpms it becomes a bit of a beast and could fly right from under you. 250 is the best beginner bike ever.

i guess you have a point i think the power that it delivers leaves me verry pleased and you are right about the revs when you rev it enough it is a major beast i have accedentaly pooped a wheelie on mine but i think overall somebody who starts out will quickly get sick of a 250cc i bet if they sauced it up a little they could put in the sport touring line up

so far so good i think its too damn cold out right now to ride every day i check the weather too see if i can ride lol its an awsome bike lots of power for the first one what i like about it is that its liquid cooled compared to the other 500s out there its the olny one unless you go up in engine size

after my 8th high speed pursuit i got caught but they didnt find the dirty in my sock. I have the 292nd ex ever made yes 1987. I will post it on here when its done as a tribute bike. I never got caught on that except a few minnor times but they got me on a 2005 ex 500 the bikes are identicle in performance. ITs hard to outrun on that little bike you must be ready at all times acting fast is the only head start you get lol later days look for my 87
