Oh, well, of course, this isn't Anton Corbijn's video-- the band has stated publicly that they admire the work Anton has done for them.

You have to remember that the UK and Europe have had a long history of music video before MTV was ever conceived, and DM was considered more of a pop band over there, compared to the more gothy image they were getting in the U.S. at the time. Very likely this was done for a TV station and wasn't intended to be an MTV-styole video at all.
