  • This was a great documentary it just really kinda pisses me off finding out how the GIRL team got started what a bunch of dicks

  • I know right

  • Rocco had cool wallrides. His 87 (did I get that year right?) TWS interview post Vision was priceless: 'if I wanted to be a criminal, I would just move to a city with about 8 skaters and break into houses all day"...

Talk about the american dream... wasn't he world freestyle champ before Mullen?

    Talk about the american dream...

  • What is the first song in the trailer? anyone?

  • @danzilor Ned's Atomic Dustbin: Grey Cell Green from the album Godfodder

  • @harleydavidonryder

then why would you waste your time on here commenting it

shouldt you be riding your harley

    FAG

  • honestly

    hate him or not

    he saved skateboarding

i still think it is extremely shitty

that the "GIRL" team created their company completely under his dime

i hate them, and the chocolate, lakai, crailtap teams

  • Steve Roccos a douchebag!!!!! He created a generation of assholes by influencing kids to vandalize shit and be assholes to each other!!!!! If it wasn't for him, Bam Margera wouldn't be a fucking celebrity, and therefore the bad part of skateboard culture wouldn't exist nearly as much!!!! Fuck Steve Rocco, and fuck the CKY crew for turning people into assholes!!!! All the shit they did wasn't funny, it was demonstration of what pieces of shit do with their time!!!!

  • @12lbq: It is VERY apparent that you did not see the movie or watched the movie with Steve Rocco's commentary. You are a ignorant douche... I am sorry for you.

  • @12lbq

    seriously

what are you some kind of jock momma's boy

skateboarding always has been a type of outlaw alternative to the mainstream sports

    which includes doing stupid shit

not everyone who has a skateboard

came from perfect loving rich familys

god you just make it sound so cliche

    and safe

i bet you still wear full helmets and pads at the park and ride Mongoose boards

  • buy it and watch it, a fucking awesome film

  • Comment removed

  • actually, world industries used to make real quality boards, then started making boards so that poor ass kids could afford them, which is why they had to lose some quality, i used to think the same thing you did, but if you look at skateboarding today, completly sold out.

  • actually mike ternasky owned and started the company. then he died and gave it to d way and colin mckay

  • right, but you caught my drift though.

  • he didnt give it to them. they started the company back up. many years later.

  • Well when he died, they took over and eventually shut the company down. And like you said, eventually many years later brought it back.

  • okay look he didnt change skateboarding trick wise he changed it industry wise but i cant explain it u have to watch the video

  • they talk mad shit about George Powell and Simon Woodstock in this documentary! :D lol!!

  • Rocco is Awesome

  • must watch

  • SON!

    step down from the dick

  • Steve rocco was the best thing that ever happened to skateboarding?... i guess they forgot about the guy who invented the ollie, the kickflip, the treflip and the sexchange.. Rodney Mullen.

  • no he's not Rodney Mullen, but he helped dudes like rodney mullen break away from the nazi regime known as powell who used world class skaters in order to get rich.

  • Very true.

  • lol look at powell now

  • @VarialKickflipp

    your an idiot

of course everyone remembers rodney mullen , rocco made mullen famous

    without rocco

Plan b, Girl, World and all the other companies would have never existed

then again why arent you praising

    allen gerland

    he invented the ollie

  • Actually, They gave the invention of the ollie to Rodney Mullen. It's arguable, But people consider Mullen to have invented it. Besides the point this guy is mediocre if you ask me. Mullen is still amazing today, Yet people have surpassed this man, People are still yet to beat mullen.

And i couldn't care less about companys. They just turn skating mainstream. The more mainstream skating is, The more douches there are on boards. Nuff said.

  • Clearly, You're a product of modern skateboarding. You think that companys and hearing about people make them good? Fuck that shit. That's not what skating is about. Skating is about love for the sport. If you don't realize this you shouldn't be on a board. If Rodney Mullen was never famous he'd still be just as good. If he was unsponsered he'd still be a god. Sponsership and fame shouldn't matter. And if you think they do you're fucking stupid, bro.

  • @VarialKickflipp ur a fag, ur name is varialkicklipp, and u have probably been skating for only like 5 seconds by now

  • @ARODfilmes

5 seconds, yet that comment was a month ago. Disproved yourself right there. but let me try insulting you by your logic.

ur a fag, ur name is ARODfilmes and u havep robably been skating for only like 1 seconds by now.

  • @VarialKickflipp at least im not a black guy who straightens my hair

  • @ARODfilmes Atleast i'm not a faggot who starts fights on youtube over skating which is a hobby you picked up last week.

  • wait, is that steve rocco skating in all of the skateboard clips in this video????

  • goood movie

  • what song is playing in the beginning of the trailer??? anyone know???

  • Ned's Atomic Dustbin - Grey Cell Green

  • dont download it, its on youtube under "stories behind skateboarding" in a few parts, its real good

  • thsi was a good movie

  • look up stories behind skateboarding and you find this documentary on here in 7 segments

  • hello??? has anyone heard of Rodney???

  • @sk8r4life1414

    what is your point

    without rocco's help and encouragement

YOU would have never hear of Rodney

    in the first place

you do realise there is a business side to proffesional skateboarding right?

  • steve rocco is an asshole he jus left his brother sal on the streets in hermosa even though sal is fucking crazy now from drgs

  • whens this coming out???

  • it's out

  • lol what happend to Jeremy Klein he used to be good but now he sucks

  • lol watch the video again and you'll see why I said that.. just on this video. I've seen other awesome skate videos :)

  • was rodney mullen flicking off the camera? Man, didn't think he acted like that.

  • it was just his way of showing how lots of the skaters acted back then with the "fuck you" mentality. Its a pretty interesting movie you should watch it

  • **cough** muska **cough**

  • guys, just download video from [sv] while it's still there.

  • does any1 have a clue when this is coming out in australia?

  • These guys got nice tech

  • If you liked this movie read Rodneys book the mutt.

  • read it, it's pretty good. except I bet he hid a few facts from it, as we all behave badly from time to time, and No one wants to publicize it.

  • upload more from the movie

  • oh yeah.. and useless wooden toys! 1990. another classic skate vid.

  • only thing designer was the occasional skate shirt and skate sneakers..early vans and airwalks. or run with some chucks or adidas or pumas. and skate parks? i don't know about the west coast..but back in CT..there was like 1 park and most skaters couldn't get the ride there, skaters would make their own parks (dead end streets, old unused parking lots, abandoned factory's..inside and out, anything! until the town found out and dumped it. ramps were never perfect, always a mess...lots of fun.

  • back then where you didn't buy your clothing from skate shops or catalogs.. it was all DIY. even when baggy pants were in it was originally DIY.. you had to buy over sized pants and cut the bottom, with long belt to hold em up, you can look at the early catalogs and you wont find them, that came shortly after.

  • Tony Loco...you are an idiot...the revolution of 92??? Jackass...ever skate a pool? Halfpipe? If anything, skaters of the eighties had to be more creative, as we weren't handed the skateparks you lil punks are handed today... back then it was a curb, bank, pools....quite honestly, I have no interest at all at how many stairs you can kick flip. Oh yeah, and skating IS all about fun, unless you skate to be one of these emo turds I see at the mall everyday. Get a life and educate yourself goof.

  • nuffaction is right, plus 92? how about blind video days? it came out in 91! rubbish heap 89! shackle me not 88!

  • It was plus 92! Even though those street vids came out pre-92, up till that year, vert and pool skating was still featured in many skate videos. I think 91-92 was the year many vert skaters did not have their pro sponsorship renewed and street skating became the dominant skate form. Thrasher put out an article that year titled: "Who killed vert?" Videos after that year were mostly focused on street as well. The revolution of 92 sucked!! :( Then again, so did the 90's compared to the 80's..

  • @nuffaction I bet the whigger bling bling type skaters from the DEW tour are his heroes... Feel sorry for him. At least we had people like Duane Peters, Mike V or Cab to look up at, not faggots like Sheckler or P Rod...

  • @nuffaction i have a park down my street, but ya know what, i still go out in front of my house everyday, wax my curbs and do some slappys, nothing better then real street skating man

  • steve rocco started World industries which started plan B, Almost, Darkstar, Blaind and pretty much half of the companies today

  • I want R0cco's Head on my wall

  • i have a rocco honey bear board on my wall . and steve berra is a pussy ftw

  • Ok, so I finally watched the damn documentary and I must say that it was a good film for a business student and for all the new school techie street kids to learn how skateboarding got to where it is today. Good production value too. Just gotta say skating is much more than street style flip tricks. Long live vert, ramps, pools, ditches and STYLE!!

  • how did u watch it?

  • Rented it from the local video store. I think they also have it available at many skate shops.

  • HAHAHAHAHAAA.... fucking jason acuna. sup ladies... that dude sold me his all his old shit when i was a grom, and he still worked at VONS.

and that Rodney clip is GANGSTAAAA... youre defining US? hahahahaha

  • will this come out on dvd plz let me know

  • its out

  • well i wouldnt think that he is an outstanding skater. hes more like a industrie head but nothing special in skating compared to big guns like Mullen or Kevin Harris

  • is the movie out, cuase i cant see it in austraila, someone upload the movie please :D

  • all i have to say is that's bullshit.

  • This guy doesnt skate! You can tell by his asinine comments. He is on other skate videos trying to talk trash to skaters with ignorant comments trying to sound like he knows a single thing about skateborading.

  • Listen, I didn't write this comment to incite all this uncalled for anger...Who the fuck is going to deny Rocco didn't think to even do a film till post Peralta had success with the documentary and film. Gimme a fuckin' break, like I'll never talk shit about someone that has a different opinion than me. Rocco was a fuckin' dot on the scene. I don't mean is goofball antics, but ON SKATEBOARDING, ie physically fuckin' skatin'.

  • If you want to applaud his jackass antics outside of skateboarding that's something I have no concern for, talk about the fucking skating!!! At the height of my skating, Rocco was a peripheral jackass with a shitty SYMS model---great idol.

  • You all clame how much of a sell out rocco was, But imagen what skateboarding would be like today with out him. You are all wronge for calling out STEVE ROCCO. And i dont know what the hell you are talking about when you say skating was better befor Rocco, He impacted the indistry, Not the actual skating it self.

Oh yeah, Best movie i have ever seen.

    Buy it.

  • first off. steve rocco did not sell out at all. he practically started the revolution. he got skating to where it is today. and second, it was not better before rocco came along. sure it was doing fine but he jus made skating more known and was just doing what he wanted and it turned out to change the sport forever and look at it now.

  • can someone upload the movie please

  • plaeseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • funny how you see those horseshit boards and products at grocery stores and sporting goods places now, happy to say Powell, Santa Cruz or any of the OG companies never turned to that, Rocco tried to be different, he was, he sold out!

  • Got out of skating right about the time the whole WI (World Industries) thing started blowing up..Glad I did..Skating was way better pre-Rocco. Good mix of street AND vert/pools. It was stupid how competitive skating became and totally focused on the techinical side of street.

  • yup especially the end when rocco is golfing and bragging about all the money he grasped ;]

  • its really a must SEE. interesting film
