i have this on sega dreamcast emultaor i wish i wouldve keep my older systems i want to play this on sega cd i still have that but no sega and this dude trying to rip me off 25bucks i can get it for 5 at a flea market
I got the Original Mega CD Version here in a very good condition, and i played a lot of other versions of the Game. But Sega´s CD Version is the best out there.
Thanks for showing the beauty of a system that never recieved recognition for the potential it had. Just the same as the Sega CD, Saturn and Dreamcast. SEGA were pioneers.
i got one whats the name of the song that plays when your under water in the 2nd one when e.j. is a salamander or newt or whatever ? i love that song but i dont know who or what.
I have a serious feeling that Special Edition was PAL only... at least from what I have come across the internet... there was no NTSC version even if it was label (U) - it was still SLOW (!!!) PAL crapconversion... so if it is true then you can do nothing but grab the standard NTSC cartridge or simply SNES for the music...
I think the genesis/CD version was better than the SNES version in terms of sound/music (and I like the controller better) though SNES did have nicer backgrounds.
@Snotnarok If you're talking about the 16 bit game cartridge, SNES was better, Sega CD, though, was clearly better than the 16 bit SNES game cardgridge.
@varanidguy That's your opinion. I don't like the SNES controller, things are smoother in the genesis version and I like the music better on the genesis. I have both on console, I just don't dig the SNES version
I like what I like, you like what you like, it's an opinion if you don't like mine get over it, I'm not going after you for what you like so go play the SNES version if that makes you happy.
The SNES had a few graphical effects absent from the Genesis version, including the lens glare effect on the first level. And, the music, IMO, was better sounding on the SNES version and digitized sound was clearer.
But the Genesis version had more sound bites and wasn't missing a level that the SNES version did.
But, like "Mickey Mania," the Sega CD version trumps both.

the pc version is superior to the sega cd version, because the sound effects and jim's voice are crystal clear

@benjamillion The SCD version is better, because you get to use a genesis controller to play it.

@Snotnarok SNES had better graphics, more and better sounds, the music was a hell of a lot better, plus the controls were perfection.

It's funny, while the artists of the game go, they have a great sense of art design, reminiscent of Tex Avery, but not much concept of game design.
You never quite know what space Jim is occupying or where the platform that he is standing on begins or ends.
The stage layout is trivial and has no effect on the player. It is a seemingly random garble of platforms and enemies.

And the Mega Drive(Genesis)/SNES versions, who is better?
vectorman1234 3 years ago
It's a mixup, IMO.
The SNES had a few graphical effects absent from the Genesis version, including the lens glare effect on the first level. And, the music, IMO, was better sounding on the SNES version and digitized sound was clearer.
But the Genesis version had more sound bites and wasn't missing a level that the SNES version did.
