All he had to do is let the inspectors do their job. It wasn't just a one time thing. Where do you get your stats from? The 7500 soldiers came from fact check. How many civilians did Sadam kill? How many would be dead now if Sadam was still in power? I guess hindsight is always 20/20. We have to deal with what we know at the time, Sadam made a mistake. If Clinton had killed Osama...If we hadn't invaded...If Sadam was still in power....Do we not count all military dead as dead?

Saddam didn't let the inspectors do their jobs back in the late 80s / early 90s. This time (2003) the inspectors were doing their jobs and didn't find anything and George W. Bush kicked them out and started the war anyway. Check out Dick Cheney's recent interview. He said that it didn't matter whether or not there were any WMD. This administration was going to invade anyway and 9/11 gave them the tool they needed to scare congress and the people into compliance.
