  • Only one quick shot of Martin Short???

  • SCTV reunion...are you kidding me?

  • @SnugglySara Uh... while SCTV isn't anything to scoff at. The Second City has been improvisation institution since 1959. It has branched out to many cities, but it is especially famous in Chicago. Alum of Second City include Barbara Harris, Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Peter Boyle, Brian Doyle-Murray, Harold Ramis, John Belushi, John Candy, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Eugene Levy, Gilda Radner, George Wendt, Shelley Long, James Belushi, Richard Kind...not even half way. In short, it's a big deal.

  • @LifeOutsideTheBubble Dan Castellaneta, Bonnie Hunt, Aaron Freeman, Mike Meyers, Chris Farley, Tim Meadows, Joel Murray, Steve Carell, Paul Dinello, Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert, Scott Adsit, Rachel Dratch, Adam McKay, Tina Fey, Jane Lynch... oh, that's only Chicago. And not everybody. Shall I move on to Toronto? Or the people trained in Chicago who weren't on the main stage?

  • @LifeOutsideTheBubble I wasn't scoffing. It was happy "are you kidding me".

  • @SnugglySara ...sorry, then. D:

  • Is that the guy from Between the Lions? o:

  • So many people are from TheSecondCity! I didn't know.

    Great that they have such an awesome group!!!!

  • Just to clarify for those readers who might be misinformed by Jimi's summary (sorry, Jimi4444) but it was a stage show long before it was a TV show, the original SNL cast came from the stage show, not "SCTV," (although Bill Murray did guest star on a couple of SCTV episodes), and Second City rarely, rarely features stand-up. They do (mostly improvised) comedy sketches, which is a very, very different thing.

  • Ok, tally goes as follows:

    Blacks = 3

    Whites = 5, 700, 892

  • jeez would i love to be there....thats some of the funniest people in the world, all under one roof

  • "It all started with a penny in the door! There was a hatred there, I've never felt before!"

  • Was that the guy from 30 Rock at 1:36?

  • YAY at Ron West (he was pretty good on Whose Line) and ESPECIALLY at Stephen Colbert (3:19) !! He's fantastic, I had no idea he was a Second City alumni!

  • No smoking, anywhere!

  • @tripjet999 were you bein sarcastic or just stupid?

  • there is so many great actors!!!!

  • At Second City, I was taught that Tragedy+Time=Comedy. My first thought seeing this video, was; what if the plane had been hi-jacked, or crashed with all the alumni on board? Of course, I'm glad that it didn't, but if it did, I think in time, I would find that extremely funny. Happy 50th Second City!

  • @alexxbiznotch how does smoking make something not funny?

  • It's awesome knowing I've performed on the same stage as all those alumni. My 3rd year at SC! Kicks ass.

  • the guy at :45 is Richard Kind (Mad About You, Spin City and a lot of other TV and movies including A Serious Man)

  • what!? What is the second city? I've never even heard of this before......hmm.

  • @madman3247 Second city is a comedy center in Chicago. They have class for teens and adults and, I think, 3 theatres. They used to have a TV show but I'm not sure what happened. A lot of comedians well known today performed there.

  • One shot of Martin Short.

    LOLWTF

  • Fantastic video, and Ending with Paul Sand, one of the first performers for Second City, great touch.

  • only one with Stephen Colbert!! OH YEAH!!!

  • wtf is that suppossed to mean??

  • I don't get it, what is the second city? A TV show?

  • it was a TV show back in the day (SCTV) that came before SNL, and a lot of SNL's first cast members and later cast members came from it. A couple examples of Eugene Levy, Dan Akyroyd, Gilder Radner, and others. Other big time comedians from it as well, like Steven Colbert. Now, they just do live stand-up (as far as I know of) and in my opinion, it's always been far better than SNL (and I'm a die-hard SNL fan)

  • Wasn't John Candy on SCTV too?

  • yes he was! he's actually my favorite! I only didn't mention him 'cause i figured not as many people know him. but yes, he was certainly on SCTV

  • @N1CKF3D It looks like a school reunion for actors.

  • improv group in chicago
