  • The timing, the phrasing, the musicality of King Cole and his sidemen are breathtaking in this little novelty piece.

  • at 1:27 With Michelle Pfeiffer on the side ?

  • my dad makes me drink his frim fram sauce.

  • I'm using this song for my trombone audtion at school tomorrow

  • seriously thank you Nocaro for giving us this and thank you Nat King Cole !

  • We sing this song in chorus class sometimes (: Haha Im in 7th grade and im an alto. Haha This song is fun to sing. (:

  • This sounds like a song Bill Cosby co-wrote...Frim Fram Sauce...lol

  • wow...ha throwback song lol

I remember me and my sister did skits to like 4 of Nat's songs for our parents...this was one. lol We pretended she was in a resturant ordering, and I was the confused waitress xD Ah memmories.

  • @abbyfanduby that is too cute. may i have my check, please? ;)

  • Fi will get yo ten - I'm goin to feed myself right tonight. Just unimatable style. God bless Nat.

  • A language all of its own - cool, mellow blues. Nat man was a gift to us all. Showtime Johnny Pal, Bluesman

  • The story behind the song is that a young man was taking his lady out on a date, and brought her to a very fancy restauraunt to impress her. But once he got there, he realized that he had no hope of paying for the expensive prices. So rather than admit he was too poor to afford it, he ordered something that didn't exist, and when they informed him that they didn't have it on the menu, he had a way to leave without losing face.

  • Love it!

  • I must have played this fun 78 at least a few hundred times since I was a child in the 60s. I've heard several jazz related artists try their take at this tune thru the years...and every time they leave out the best part: Nat's closing, spoken line which is a riot. Even Diana Krall decided not to use it. A pity.

  • @hepcat2009 I agree! It´s the best part of the song!

  • @hepcat2009 well diana krall is a pity as well! she taint no oday, forrest and sure and ward!

  • We are singing in choir class. :)

  • I had a lobster roll at a restaurant here in Santa Monica last night. Awful. Cost $22. Should've ordered the frim fram sauce with shefifa on the side...

  • its cha fa fa* :) yeah im singing it in choir :)

  • I love this song i sang it in a choir. "I'm gonna feed myself right tonight" ;D

  • interesting nocaro. i didn't know that

  • What in the world is frim fram sauce? Shefifah?

  • LOL...they are nonsense words, that is, made-up words. It was quite common back in those days in jazz to "scat" or make up "sounds" to accompany the music....it's still done today even.

  • @adamax i have a feeling he's alluding to something sexual... or at least having something to do with the opposite sex. i'll probably get some thumbs down for this comment, but it was quite typical for artists to use word-play in place of something that they weren't allowed to sing about in those days...

  • @adamax Maybe it's a variant of poagy-bait (q.v. The D.I.).

  • @adamax they're actual foods! i saw frim fram sauce on a menu the other day. my great grandma used to sing this and she explained it to me once but i forgot what they all consist of

  • @NataleiOnYouTub3 mmm i feel like buying this sauce know:)

  • @adamax its just the frim fram sauce, with that wonderful shefifah on the side. I like more shefifah myself but never would have it with out frim fram sauce on the side.

  • @adamax nO ItS cHA fA fa

  • ha since todays MLK day i felt like listening to black music for some reason....and now i cant stop singing it........everyone around me is like "WTF right voice wrong skin"

    lol

  • Oh boy!! This takes me back!!

    Many thanks!!

(Didn't he swing on the piano?)
