Who didn't like Nick Barkely or Gus (in Lonesome Dove)?? I'll always remember those Great Years of my youth in Libreville, Gabon...thanks to youtube and all the members...and specially, @readhotmountie for this vdo!!!!
we ALL had a crush on lee majors in this series, i watched it in reruns just to catch glimpses of the young pre accident lee majors, i loved his nose/nostrils
I loved this show too. One of the best on TV with one exception. I thought the characters were too overly physically effectionate with one another…just too touchy touchy for a family…kinda creepy to me…almost on the verge of looking incestuous.
@Dennyee Interesting comment. You make a good point. I think in 1870's America people were not that physically affectionate with each other. Much more distant and reserved than our touchy feely world of today. Thanks for sharing your perceptive comment.
I have watched this video so many times and love it!!. The Big Valley was my favorite tv western growing up. Could never get enough of Lee Majors. Thanks for making this video as it brings back lots of good memories.
@stareyes1326 Thank u for your kind comments and it would seem that we both had a crush on Lee Majors whilst growing up obviously a case of 'Great minds think a like and good taste'
@redhotmountie Thank you so very much for this beautiful tribute to a legendary western. Lee Majors was a real, real good looking guy. I can understand anybody having a crush on him. He took his shirt off a lot on the show. He had a fantastic physique matched with an incredibly handsome face. No doubt, the best looking man on television. Nobody else is even close.
Big Valley and Paul Gross...you can't get any better than that! I had a thing for Richard Long myself, but none of those Barkley boys were hard to look at.
Inolvidable >Valle de Pasiones la actuacion de la señora Stanwick a veces resultaba mas recia que la de sus hijos vaqueros !!! asi se formo esa nacion a reciedumbre limpia!!!
Love Big Valley Love Lee Majors. By the way I wonder if redhotmountie is from Canada as I am also from Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. Just a hunch since Alberta is mentioned in the song.
Thank u for your comments. I am from the U.K. but i am a great Paul Gross fan. The 'love Affair' started with him in Due South and has continued ever since.
For some who are wondering what happened to the 2nd and 4th season openings of BV, I have some idea. 15 yrs. ago the master film was sent to BC, Canada where it was restored to brighten the color, for some reason somebody decided not to restore the 2nd and 4th opening and I'm afraid its lost forever.
the show was unique in that it actually had plots each which were tightly constructed and very well written. Add to that the superb cast, esp. Barbara Stanwyck, Peter Breck, and Richard Long, and it was a cut or two above the rest. Wish it had run 10 years or more!
I just bought Season 2. I wish they would make a Season 3 and 4. I would like to see the one of Jarrod and Beth marrying in seanson 3. It was called Days of Wrath.
Although as a kid i had a crush on Lee Majors as Heath but i also did think that Richard Long as Jarrod was very handsome. I also remember him in Nanny and the Professer with Juliet Mills.
omg! If you have Encore:Westerns, they play TBV without commercials! I was just telling someone that I taped that episode and I keep playing it over and over again! It's beautiful and sad! They have been rerunning lately so they will probably play it soon!
The Big Valley was the most charming TV show of it's time in every way...
Jarrod was my favorite. cool-headed,intelligent and suave. The great thing was though, all the characters were so likable.Victoria, Heath, Nick and even Audra up to a point. The plots weren't overused and corny, either.
I have always loved the Big Valley. I remember watching as a kid. I would switch from Heath being my favorite to Nick being my favorite. I loved Nick because he would take on the world in a fight,it did not matter if he was out numbered. Heath was just down right handsome. This was the family everyone wanted, a strong mother who could shoot. I dont believe anyone was as rich as the Stockton Barkleys.
Heath was my favourite but i loved the relationship between the two brothers Heath and Nick, they would have died for one another. Sadly they just don't make TV Westerns like this anymore
But didn't he 'disappear' after season 1? I read that somewhere because I never saw the earliest eps, and don't remember him, but see him in occassional stills.
Bravo!! Thank you kindly for posting this . A true classic show . My grandma and I uses to watch this show before dialing for dollars came on channel 2.
I came across this by accident. Peter Breck is a good friend of mine I have known him and his wife Diane for many years. And Christopher their son who is no longer with us.I don't know if peter has ever seen you tube and the nice comments that have been posted, but I will let him know to have a look.He will appreciate it very much.He has always loved the fans and respected them.
Thank you kindly,I loved watching Big Valley as a kid and although Lee Majors was my favourite,i always loved the close friendship between the two brothers Nick and Heath. I still have fond memories of the series to this day. Please give my best wishes to Peter and his wife Diane from a bit older now Big Valley fan
OMG i use to love heath and nick had a great ass lol i love the show i just got the 1st season of big valley and the 2nd is out now 2 what a great show. but i love the cartwrights 2 but their 1st season is out now 2 but they want 99.99 for it im thinking really hard about that one lol but i know i will get it but not yet great video ty for sharing
I agree, such a beautiful and special relationship. Did u ever watch the tv western series LANCER,? those brothers also had a special relationship as well.
No, to be honest, I've never heard of a show called Lancer. I just recently discovered a forum for Big Valley where there are a lot of great stories and some of them are cross overs w/Lancer. But I've never seen the show.
