Look at Cheryl Cole, the girl has been trying to crack the American mainstream for sometime now.British music is great and has given the world some amazing talents. However, when it comes to the music industry, the U.S. has made A LOT more globally recognizable artists than any country (American or foreigners). Once a British artist makes it in the U.S. he/she is a global star... its the power of the American music industry.
