It's very sad... Back in the 90's I became hooked on crack from a guy at a party. It ruined my life. I lost everything, I was miserable. One day while taking a hit, I just decided to fling it out of my car window and I never touched it again. I was on it for many years. I just suddenly found the strength to break free on my own. I know that's rare for someone to do. I think God gave me the power to do it. Now i'm clean, have a great job, Doing my hobbies.
I dunno I did a bunch of meth and didnt end up addicted living in a tree trunk and selling my ass, I just went to clubs and danced alot, it was fun, then I just kinda grew out of it.
must admit i aint got sympathy for people addicted to drugs you dnt have to take them or u dont have to take them enough to get addicted to them your own fault
The way I quit crystal was simple. I moved out of town, far away and never came back. Also, the initial withdrawls can be handled by getting drunk and passing out till its over. Just don't trade crystal for alcohol though.
@eyetalllies thanks for replying, I agree with you and that's why I made the original comment but Bollingerz did get me thinking wether unless prescribed could a ' happy ' person really become a severe addict. Why would a person who is happy be trying drugs in the first place?
@eyetalllies hi :) how can I be wrong? I am quoting from someone called Bollingerz a few comments down and questioning the fact, hence question marks. I have been an addict for over 20 years and had a good upbringing yet don't know the answer to this. Maybe you could tell me as you seem to know more than I. Best wishes from graham,(detoxing junkie)
@makeway4thebigfish That Fact is wrong, Anyone can grow up to be an addict some more than others.
I also had a terrific childhood, Healthy, Athletic, every summer went on road trips, I still skateboard/snowboard have a huge group of friends and I love my family.
You can thank the government for the latest drug to fuck you up OXY! I hope you get better I understand how hard detoxing can be.
Thank you for listening to John Frusciante he is also recovering Heroin addict.
I think the film is not forceful enough. Although a touching story, this is not what most people searching youtube for a crystal meth documentary expect.
This is well made from a film-making standpoint. Meth addiction is a horrible thing and I support efforts to stop meth addiction. But living inside a tree, with a feeling of safety, with friends, with a bike, recycling items, free blackberrys, In a beautiful setting...sends a mixed message to me. YES meth is horrible, along with prostitution. If meth was out of the equation tho, this is kind of my ideal life. The message is still valid, because meth is what makes it a bad life.
there's so much shit out there on the internet about drugs. i've been on this site alone for hours now watching videos about narcotics and just stumbled upon this one. This guy has it in his head that he put himself in this particular place in british columbiia, when really the drugs dictated it.
Powerful and insightful work - I hope (you) the presenter stay well and healthy try to get clean and housed. I just lost the most wonderful mate in the world to addiction, he was 53. He was well spoken, well read, philosophical, wise, but emotionally tortured by demons he never shook off. I'm so sad he never got clean and sober and died still in his lifestyle. For anyone who said 'I raised my kid great and he's still an addict, sorry, healthy happy kids don't grow up severely addicted FACT.
Isn't it truly a crutch used by those who failed to develop the skills to handle life's ups and downs? My oldest son, 38 and has 4 children- comes from a stable home- brother a cop, sister owns her own business, both parents married 32 yrs, weekly sunday dinner, closeness beyond most, yet he stills turns to meth. 2 times we gave him a clean start and now, he's on his 3rd relapse and we have had to say "no more". Breaks my heart. Truly, breaks our hearts.
This was a great video, well edited and presented. Matthews problems seem to lie deeper then his drug addiction, the fact that he lives in vancouver is a huge thing because the cost of living in vancouver is so high and the min. wage is so low it is almost impossible to get by. I lived d/t for 7 years and barely scraped by, i was addicted to drugs because thats all there is d/t, especially in the gay scene. I don't see how van can be the #1 place to live, so much swept under the rug.
