hey, im 14 and i've decided (about 2-3 years ago) that as soon as i finish Uni, im gonna move to Kyoto, do you think its a good idea, i just love the whole japanese... well.. aspect xD + i heared kyoto is REALLY beautiful. i live in england ATm and i cant wait to move away from here. :/
I lived outside of Tokyo for 6 years and on Ookinawa for 4 years. I loved it and would go back in a second. The people are great, the country is beautiful and the culture is amazing.
Thanks for your absolutely great videos! Yeah I've been there 3 times and honestly everyday I think about my return journey. This time I'm armed with some language skills and an agenda as to where I want to go. But really I cant go everywhere - its just too big a place! You really cannot answer your own question - not without alot of thought. I also like oshiburi and if I needed a really trivial reason - that alone would get me there.I know the real reasons are difficult to express in words
@zabetheli90 Actually, believe it or not, that is a little town called Yufuin (a famous onsen vacation spot) in Kyushu. It's not as warm as Hawaii there, but the hotsprings are amazing!
@Posatrocible The only difference was you couldn't see the ocean but similar looking landscape....I plan on taking a trip one day to Japan one day and I will be looking into Kyushu now :-)
Japan wants the world to suffer in it's radiation nightmare. The release of 12,000 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima into the ocean is a gift to the world.
Radiation into the ocean = radiation into sea life - radiation into the food chain = cancer into humans!
I plan to visit Japan after high school or after the marine corps or if I get stationed there I didn't want to go to Japan until recently I was on YouTube as usual watching videos and came upon some video about this guy in Japan showing what it was like and that was about a week ago and now I'd love to go!

I've made up my mind: I want to travel and preferably not live in America when I'm older. Maybe I will even move to Japan. It'll be a challenge, but I think that I can do it. C:
The culture is very interesting. I like it much more than my own culture, which always seems so uptight and somewhat unpleasant at times. Hopefully I'll be able to go someday!
@samaimdeda Heya, thanks for the comment! I fixed that link, and you can find my email address on the site. Get in touch anytime if you have a question!
Just wait until muslims start living there, it is going to be a shithole. Japanese people will probably start hating foreigners, like Americans hate Mexicans, in the near future. You guys are doing exactly what Americans percieve illegals do; invading and taking over by outbreeding the inhabitants.
I wonder where you lived in North America? I lived in Orange County, CA and I felt it was more international. I had friends from all over the world. I am in japan now and I do not know many foreigners. Maybe that is because I am in Tokyo.
@pedrito1106 Lol I have also lived there for quite some time, and am returning soon, and have no idea what you are talking about. I have experienced some racism but no less then my years in america. And everyone is generally politer so I like it better. I'm sure most foreigners will say the same ^_^ There are plenty of vids on youtube about foreigners living in japan and most of them only inspire me to return.
Japan as a country is really a sad sad stament on humanity, they are still the most racist people in "western" civilization. there is somthing really wrong with their culture.
I would have mentioned the cleanliness of pretty much everywhere, the politeness and amazing customer service, the technology, the peace *low crime rate*, and pretty much every other important aspects of japanee culture.
It's odd that he did not include Asian women as the reason why he lives there. I bet that is probably the main reason he moved to that country, as well as the higher standard of living.
lol the conbini! every single time i've passed a lawson's, without fail, there's always at least two people i see standing there reading magazines. ALWAYS. awesome.

@nirvanapower1991: I thought that was a pot plant, too, but apparently it's just a leaf from a Japanese species of tree similar to the maple. It's a symbol of autumn, it seems.
Karaoke? Beer? Haha, I wasn't aware of the fact that these were Japanese institutions. No, White people like the Japanese because they are clean, intelligent, and efficient, somewhat like the Germans. And, after all, a venture to such a nation so far removed from Occidental society would be nothing short of refreshing and intriguing, I assume.
@azkeyz Honestly, if you hate America and Americans so much, you can move...just saying. You seem to despise every aspect of America, join the global bandwagon why dontcha, but seriously, no one's making you stay.
Basicaly the Obama terrorist regime forced americans to re-evalute america America is nothing but one big huge fraud , from birth to death. I think americans are thrilled at the possibility of being with a people like the japanese. White americans are under attack. 1. racism 2. sexism 3. corperate greed 4. failed education system 5. failed health care system 6. failed government who continue to commit treason and fraud 7. false religions , cults 8. organized crime 9. globalism
I love Japan too because people care. They actually take time to take care of the people around u even if u r a total stranger! Here in England, everyone is so selfish n narrow-minded. ARHH. I wanna live in Japan!!!
Hi there! I think its amazing that you live in Japan. I aspire to live their someday as well. I want to be an English teacher there. So, do you speak Japanese well and what is your occupation there (if I may ask)? Thanks! (:
Matt, you hit the nail on the head. It's the adventure. I've been living in Germany for the past 16 years and have often asked myself why. It's always the adventure. It's the discovery of something you didn't know before. You learn something new, literally almost every day. I don't think you can do that in the place where you grew up. There are always new words, new ideas, new customs etc. to be discovered. this discovery is what keeps us Ausländer going. We're a cultural Indiana Jones!
Wow. I never thought there'd be so many foreigners. Is it where you live? The job you do? When I went to Ikebukuro me and my mum were the only foreigners save for when we went on a tour bus.
And you know Wales exists! Props for that. I'm half and proud of it.
I have lived in London my entire life (I'm 17), I hate it here, I never go out, there is nothing to see or do, I have no friends here either. My dream, is to live in Japan, as blunt and ignorant as that sounds, I am completely attached to the ...Not idea, dream, and I will do it :). Not as an escapist ideology either, I'm not thinking that if I live there every problem I have will leave me, I just genuinely prefer it (from speculation) over London.
@VaderGaming Do it! All my British friends here say they would never go back. Down side here is work and accommodations, otherwise great! Make a plan to take care of these two problems and you are set.
@MyLifeinJapan09 Why thank you kind sir! This is a new account I made, by the way, I'm not just another random person ;). I do have somewhat of a plan, I was going to study for my Computer Science degree in England, whilst learning Japanese, then I would have the prospects of working in London or Japan. I'm not sure how well a Computer Science degree works in Japan, whether they have vacancies or whatnot, but it seems like a pretty sound idea to me. Thanks :)
@HanzoJapan as a japanese, I have some questions for you. as you know Japan has suffered from recession for 20 years. why you made that decision? and you still think that is best decision?
I'm not sure that you would enjoy yourself in Japan. If you can't feel yourself comfortable in your home country then there's a big chance that this will be the case in Japan too. In your home country you are given the chance to belong to the flock whether you take it or not. In Japan you'll always be treated as a guest. It's not too hard to cope with it if you're an outgoing person but (no offense) you don't seem like one.
@VaderGaming same here most of my friends are either back in their home countries or studying US or UK, after i finish in singapore, i am soo movin to tokyo ~
help !!!we chinese are under attack in japan .they attacked the chinese schools and tourists.help!! im really worried about my brothers and sisters in japan.
@240kankan Hmm... one of the most popular students in my class this semester is Chinese. And there are literally hundreds of Chinese students at our university and there have been no reports of attacks on or off campus. Your brothers and sisters in Beppu / Oita are safe! Please rest easy about them.
I love Japan and I've been more interested in learning Japanese. Japanese culture and the "girls" as well. Japan girls are beautiful but hard to get to. but not just for women there. Beautiful place to go to. Would love to go when I have the language all mastered and ready to go.
Japan as a country is really a sad sad stament on humanity, they are still the most racist people in "western" civilization. there is somthing really wrong with their culture.
@Tequlilaconlimon lol the only reason they may seem racist is because of the experiance they have with foreigners. Alot of foreigners that go there are generally alot more rude and less humble then their own society, so they want to keep them out. Japan just happens to be the cleanest, most developed, politest society on this planet, and they want to keep it that way. Based on what they see from the rest of the world *America*, I would want to keep them out also.
@jack21510001 Don't worry I know xD I am american and I don't stereotype. I'm just saying that rudeness just happens to be flourishing here, because of serious lack of community.
i wish to live in japan now, i am going to make a big effort to make this happen. I am tired of the United States. so i once i take care of alot crap here i am soo gone from here for good.
There is a real comradery between foreigners living in Japan. It's like you are a part a the "foreigner tribe" and it is easy to relate with each other because of your shared experience of Japan . Meeting people from around the world is a great part of that experience.
I'm trying to get hired to teach English in Japan. I've loved the culture of Japan even before I was introduced to Anime in High School! A lot of people have this vison of Japan solely thru anime and I hope that more and more people will discover the other faces of Japan, not just the Otaku side. I love manga and anime too but I know that's not the ONLY thing Japan is.
My wife, children, and I are going to be moving to Japan next year. My wife and I got married in Japan and had our honeymoon there as well when we were 18 years old. I love the culture, the food, the language, the people, the technology, the clothing, the beautiful country, the history, and everything else about Japan. My sons and daughters are extremely excited about living in Japan.
so in other words your saying that anyone who isnt from the westen part of the world or american is a danger to you they are more sane and claverer than us in alot of things and prob have very little crime compared to the US but i wud like to visit japan seems like a nice place
someeee people aren't. you're forgetting about the high suicide rate particularly in Tokyo. in the japanese business world you either make it or break it, those who break it throw themselves infront of trains because they 'fail' at life. go further into the country though and its soooooo chills
@WhiteCloud1001 All people deserve to be accepted even those who are not nice or those who are lost or confused. It is a flaw of the Japanese culture that they require perfection out of people rather than just accepting and caring for all people.
im moving to japan in 3 years to go live there (although and not going to be welcomed much) and i was wondering where is the best place to live in japan ( im considering kyoto) and what jobs can be suitable were u make a decent amount of money (btw im african-american) please someone reply.
well most japanese dont have any issues with foriners but im not going to lie since your black they might be a little curois but yet distant because they will think that your a criminal but if you learn japanese and respect the culture and show them that your a good person and you will have no issues with the japanese exept the ones who are really racist
What do you mean "why"--have you no idea what has been happening to JAL, including to its pilots, during the past few years, especially the past few months AND the past few weeks?
I very much appreciate the summer and winter videos ala a day in your life. Have never visited Japan so got a sense of it from your vantage point. You seem to enjoy what you do teaching and that comes across. Left a favorable impression on me. I hope if you are so inclined that you will share some of your adventures learning japanese in a video or part of a segment. It could encourage others to attempt learning a phrase or two.
oooo no wI know why you were at Beppu eki in the clip. YOu live in Oita-shi!. I lived in Beppu. WAs a student at APU. Really loved it there. HAd lots of fun. sometimes we got bored and would jsut goto Fukuoka and goto Happy Cock(a club) and get in at a discount cuz a few people that worked there were APU students and we would just dirnk all night! :D Lots of fun. I use to have BAito in Oita city.
Woah you went to Beppu!! The clip where you guys were at the hand soaking onsen that's in front of the eki. I use to live in Beppu for about a yr and just got back!!. Did you enjoy the Shining Uncle statue?
My cousin´s girlfriend said that when her sister went to Japan she lost weight because she didn´t like the food but I like the food there and the Japanese beer.
I lost weight because of the change of lifestyle. You walk more than in AMerica. But that comes with just leaving America and going to a more normal developed country.
Yeah like that most Japanese are very helpful. I had to ask many people the first time that I went by myself with a normal train.
I didn´t see many tourists. I mostly saw tourists in Akihabara and some Englishmen in the bar called Hub. I have to learn more Japanese before I go there next time because most Japanese suck at English except for my friends there.
The Coca-Cola ad at the end was TERRIFYING. Like, "YOU CAN'T ESCAPE THE AMEICAN ADVERTISEMENTS!"

Tequlilaconlimon 1 year ago
@Tequlilaconlimon lol the only reason they may seem racist is because of the experiance they have with foreigners. Alot of foreigners that go there are generally alot more rude and less humble then their own society, so they want to keep them out. Japan just happens to be the cleanest, most developed, politest society on this planet, and they want to keep it that way. Based on what they see from the rest of the world *America*, I would want to keep them out also.
hiashiro1 7 months ago
@hiashiro1 not all americans are rude
jack21510001 6 months ago
@jack21510001 Don't worry I know xD I am american and I don't stereotype. I'm just saying that rudeness just happens to be flourishing here, because of serious lack of community.
hiashiro1 6 months ago
japan can only be explained by going there. I like how closed they are, it keeps the place special and exotic. The planet needs a couple of japans...

To grant some clearance...
The first soundtrack heard in this video is: Battlestar Galactica's season 2 - Main Title (UK version)
Artist/Group: Bear McCreary
Oshibori = "wet hand towels offered to customers in places such as restaurants or bars in Japan."
So basically the wet towels aren't that unique, but more the custom/service.

@WhiteCloud1001
someeee people aren't. you're forgetting about the high suicide rate particularly in Tokyo. in the japanese business world you either make it or break it, those who break it throw themselves infront of trains because they 'fail' at life. go further into the country though and its soooooo chills
LoCo55 2 years ago 2
@WhiteCloud1001
You can't make an accurate judgement like that unless you have lived for several years in both countries you are talking about.
Not that I am entirely disagreeing with your statement(s).
But opinions like that are becoming a bit generic, which are mostly not based on personal experience. And thus are not justified.
L1b3rta 2 years ago 2
@WhiteCloud1001 Sane? I don't know about that lol

@WhiteCloud1001 The Japanese are just as insane as the rest of us. They are just a little more introverted about it. :c)

@WhiteCloud1001 you never hear mass murders are grand thefts in japan
Mattalicous 1 year ago
@WhiteCloud1001 All people deserve to be accepted even those who are not nice or those who are lost or confused. It is a flaw of the Japanese culture that they require perfection out of people rather than just accepting and caring for all people.

im moving to japan in 3 years to go live there (although and not going to be welcomed much) and i was wondering where is the best place to live in japan ( im considering kyoto) and what jobs can be suitable were u make a decent amount of money (btw im african-american) please someone reply.
bogueji1 2 years ago
Why wont you be welcomed there? Japanese people are so welcoming...!
quintasmic 2 years ago 8
well most japanese dont have any issues with foriners but im not going to lie since your black they might be a little curois but yet distant because they will think that your a criminal but if you learn japanese and respect the culture and show them that your a good person and you will have no issues with the japanese exept the ones who are really racist

My cousin´s girlfriend said that when her sister went to Japan she lost weight because she didn´t like the food but I like the food there and the Japanese beer.
83Mysterio 2 years ago
I lost weight because of the change of lifestyle. You walk more than in AMerica. But that comes with just leaving America and going to a more normal developed country.
lordblazer 2 years ago
Yeah. When I´m at home I often take my car but there I walked a lot and took trains.

Yeah. Everyng is true about what you said. I havent been in Japan long but there is defenately small things here that add up and make you love Japan.
Vreugdian 2 years ago 3
Yeah like that most Japanese are very helpful. I had to ask many people the first time that I went by myself with a normal train.
I didn´t see many tourists. I mostly saw tourists in Akihabara and some Englishmen in the bar called Hub. I have to learn more Japanese before I go there next time because most Japanese suck at English except for my friends there.
