You're right about 1966 and the AP. If I had my way to fix the current system, I'd throw out all human polls and go computer-only. The SEC had to suffer a lot of ND and Big Ten favoritism, and probably collusion, with MSU and ND playing for a tie to stay #1 and #2.

Lucky? Alabama stopped Texas twice from scoring a touchdown in the redzone. Bama had a goal line stand against Texas when they had McCoy. Bama didn't get lucky that McCoy got injured. It was a benefit it some ways though. Texas's defense let Bama have 2 players with over 100 rushing yards. Colt McCoy doesn't play on defense. Bama's RB's would have still dominated. McCoy getting injured showed that Texas's O-line can't really block against a blitz. But Gilbert was smart by throwing the ball away.
Texas scored all the games points. Alabama shiity ass offense couldn't even throw for 50 yards the whole game. Had McCoy been playing it would have been a ass raping of Alabama. Hell even the freshman almost pulled it off.
But again, a team whose success depends entirely on one player isn't a good team. Texas might have better individual players, but the Crimson Tide is the better team (as a whole).

For example: What the hell did TCU and Boise State prove? NOTHING. If you put TCU in the Big Twelve, they would be lucky to have a winning season. Texas, OU, OState, Texas Tech, Nebraska, and hell, Baylor would even give them a run for their money. As long as these shit conference champ teams keep winning, the BCS will always be a joke. Playoffs come into affect, and you'll NEVER see any team besides SEC, maybe Big 12, win the National Title.

It is annoying seeing all the undefeated WAC teams make BCS games when more deserving teams get left out, but Boise State did go undefeated and beat Oregon, who got a BCS bid too. And TCU beat Virginia, BYU (who beat Oklahoma), Utah, and Clemson (ACC Runner Up). So they did earn it. They won every game

Well Sam Bradford before he got injured was rated way above McCoy as far as the NFL and college was concerned first, and as I stated our FIRST YEAR STARTING QB PLAYED WITH TWO BROKEN RIBS. and as I also stated your star QB McCoy's record against Texas top 4 opponets this year he threw for shit and had only 3 TD's and had 6 INT's, so your freshman probably was your best chance not to mention we had one of the top linebackers Hightower not playin & Ingram played with major cramps.

8 titles is only since 1936, when the AP poll began.
And I'm not a 'bama fan, I actually find them kind of annoying, but all due respect to them: they have an amazing legacy of success, and proved themselves the best team this year as well.

You're right about 1966 and the AP. If I had my way to fix the current system, I'd throw out all human polls and go computer-only. The SEC had to suffer a lot of ND and Big Ten favoritism, and probably collusion, with MSU and ND playing for a tie to stay #1 and #2.
But all fair, if undefeated Alabama got ripped off in '66, doesn't that mean 14-0 Boise State got a similar rip-off this year?

Maybe to a degree, maybe they should have let Alabama play Boise next week. Where I really think they messed up was playing Boise against TCU, they should have put each of those teams against like an Ohio State, LSU, Penn State...etc to see how they would have faired because Cincinnati got blown out by Florida. I just don't think those teams are at that level yet, but if there is one it is Boise...!!

Lucky? Alabama stopped Texas twice from scoring a touchdown in the redzone. Bama had a goal line stand against Texas when they had McCoy. Bama didn't get lucky that McCoy got injured. It was a benefit it some ways though. Texas's defense let Bama have 2 players with over 100 rushing yards. Colt McCoy doesn't play on defense. Bama's RB's would have still dominated. McCoy getting injured showed that Texas's O-line can't really block against a blitz. But Gilbert was smart by throwing the ball away.
