She wants to pretend historical events were different to accommodate her own pet ideas?
Or have I missed something? If that's her proposition then I have to wonder why she has not listened to herself and realized how intellectually fraudulent her notion is?
By the way, I'm not against migration or anything like that. I like India a lot, as I do America. But her Indian accent is obvious, which makes me think that she's an immigrant from India and not a native of Canada (as her children would become). Now, if an American went up to Canada and said that they should completely break away from Britain, Canadians would obviously say, "Then why did you come here? Go back home." I'm just trying to be fair, though she's from India.
I'm an American. We completely broke away from Britain. Still, I don't agree with that woman. I think that it's ultimately up the the Canadians, but their relationship with Britain is not one of subservience or colonialism. Canada is an equal partner with the U.K., and I'm pretty sure the queen has no affect on the governing of Canada. If the woman wanted to be in a country that severed its ties with the U.K., she could have stayed in India. But whatever. Do what the majority wants.
