Unlike many artists that day, David Gilmour was not a guest during another musician's set. He'd been in Bryan Ferry's touring band during 1985 and this was (so to speak) just another stop on the road. Still, it is nice to see that at least a piece of Pink Floyd was represented at Live Aid. Roger Waters offered to play too, but Geldof turned him down. Maybe he wanted to avoid awkwardness between Gilmour and Waters at Wembley. Or perhaps he just didn't like hitchiking...
gilmour adapted to the mistakes of the day but thank god, jon cairn, on keyboards, and tim wrenwik backing eric clapton in philadelphia, all in all a good day as floyd proceeded to go and make "momentry lapse of reason" and "the divison bell" with these two great musicians.
@markflem "jealous guy" is not by brian ferry, its john lennon's song.. Pitty David gilmour was only being used by Ferry as a guitarist, instead of being featured in live aid as the guitarist and member of the mighty PINK FLOYD as them playing their own set!... Damn u floyd, why did you have to break up a year earlier..
Great whistle solo, Sir !!! Also love at 5:50 the cameramen rushing to fim Gilmour at the start of the solo :D and David pointing like - "film the other guitar guy, my legendary solo's coming on later, you fools !"

One wasn't working and he couldn't tell which. His set was plagued with technical problems, particularly with Gilmour's guitar.
