Scotland is one of the most beautiful countries I've ever been to, and produced some great bands, Big Country being one of them. Scottish landscapes & country side are just breathtaking. Not to mention the castles-fortresses & the churches around, wonderful. I remember a castle on a small island in the middle of a lake, I think it was in the Ayr area, but I'm not sure, might well have been in the Fort Williams area. I took pics of it but can't remember where it was, damn.
You all are SO lucky to be in such a BEAUTIFUL big country as Dunfernline. I'd do anything to see it and experience it. It's the most beautiful area I've every seen. That is where the video to "In a Big Country" was filmed, right?
Big Country rocked the California airwaves for quite awhile on the cool stations here, during the 80s. Too bad they weren't even bigger than they were. I love Big Country.
It makes me proud to have Scottish blood in me, as an American.
My 2nd all time fave. I'm in USA and Big Country is my all time fave band. The first time I ever heard them in 1983 hooked me for life. Yes, God bless Stuart for all he did for music. I am grateful.
"In a Big Country" ... dreams stay with you, like a lover's voice fars the mountain side, stay alive.... It's also my all time fave song. I heard it in the Fall of 1983 ... exactly 26 years ago and I've never let it go since. I watch the video sometimes over and over. I love Big Country. It's hard to explain the way I love their music. It's just Love.
I like "One great thing","Look away" and surely "In a big country".
"Look away" MV always interested me much, to me it conveyed so many messages, it ended like the beginning seemed telling a never-ending story!
I had a short essay on Big Country & Stuart, please try "jerojetw " Google search, "Flowering Writing & Others" is my blog, labels on the right you may find Big Country essay. (most written in Chinese..)
CHEERS, P.S. I'm not in ur 'Big' country. ^^" _Jero
also, the guitar chords. so unique and distinctive and beautiful. the mix of the drums and the chords and Stuart's voice... what a mix. to me, it is the most distinctive of all 80s music.
Just rekindled my love affair with BC after many years. I have no idea why I'd stopped listening to them. Think I may have been in a state of mourning after Stuart tragically killed himself. Anyone who was at The Big Day at Glasgow Green will NEVER forget the truly amazing sound of 250,000 people singing the words to Chance. Tingling neck hair stuff indeed.
I agree! Radio stations are so stuck on their hit "In A Big Country". Whenever I request something else from Big Country, they're like OK! then they play "In A Big Country" Go figure! They must be afraid that people may recognize a new hit from and old band and request it again and again. Anythings possible.
What a great band. Great guitars, great song writing, AWSOME rythm section. Rock just isn't the same. and what great timing. The 80's sucked. Big Country kicked rock in the ass when rock needed a kick in the ass.
wait, so wut happened 2 that guy? did she save him again or wuts goin on?
