@Jarge98 Generally no, if it's dark. My female squeals about 8pm every night if I don't cover them. :P Occasionally, they'll respond to a sound, even in the dark. Not sure about other birds. If you get a rescue that's a physically mature bird, you might be able to find out established habits of the pair. Keep in mind that a male/female pair may ignore you or you may have to deal with jealousy from the dominant bird in the pair, which is what I deal with. :P Male/male varies. Dunno female/female.

Will female rednecks talk? You are an amazing trainer. I would love some advice. She lunges when I try to pick her up. I have heard that if you have been bitten and are uncomfortable around them they will sence it and bite again. how can you not be afraid though? It hurts. I really want to be like you are with your parrots more than anything. I want to keep and interact with them. Do you allow on shoulders?

@Jacob624Bar all I can say is there are NO guarantees any bird will get long with another...it either happens or it doesn't. All my parrots relationships have happened naturally, by hanging out in the same room.

@Jacob624Bar it's hard to say...some birds hit it off some do not....just like us they have personality, it all depends if they both like each other...even if you bought 1 male and 1 female cockatiel there is still a chance they will not get along and you will have to cage them separately

I have a hard desision... My home is a very open home, everyone leaves doors open and are careless, but my cockatile Pepper freaks by the slightest sudden sound, and her flight feathers are growing back... It feels cruel to cute off the flight, but would it save Pepper?

@Sethybeth I know exactly how you feel. I hate having to trim my birds' wings, it truly sucks. But it is necessary. My lovebird flew away once, and it was literally the scariest moment of my life - I was lucky enough to have found her thank God, but I wouldn't wish that nightmare on ANYONE. The nice thing is, they are still very good at getting around - they're exceptional climbers. So they don't feel immobile, just limited. He'll also depend on you and so bond to you more. Hope that helps!

@xxgeorgiinaxx it is not normal for the bird to not eat!!! he will be dehydrated in no time!! my husband is the vet, not me, but sounds like you need a visit to the vet soon. Normal stool has no smell.

@chesawoo wow.. my pet cockatiel died last week thats why i ask. I took him to the pet shop 2 days after we bought him as he seemed sad. We explained we had to force feed him, and that his stool smelled very strong, and the pet shop owner said it was normal and that it could take upto a week for him to come around. It makes me angry and sad.
