  • I read years ago about Bob Newman writing this song. It was about his passing and it mentioned in the article that at the time he wrote this song he was playing for my great great uncle George Doughty. I would like to find more about these two. If anyone could help thanks. I had always heard that my George was part of the Georgia Crackers. Thanks

  • Bob sold the rights to this song for dog track money. Didn't make a dime off of Hee Haw. Saw Bob in 1972 selling used cars in Phoenix. Too Bad ;(
