@jjysoserious It's short for micromanagement. It means controlling units in battle so that they do specific things. For example if your troops attack a command center and you want them to attack the SCV's instead, and you have them attack the SCV's instead of the command center, that's an example of micro. Good micro takes advantage of the speed and/or range of certain units to maximize a unit or group of unit's effectiveness, whether that is keeping them alive or doing tons of damage.

Wall-ins in TvT, PvP, and TvP are detrimental because the buildings work against your units due to range. Basically if the enemy attacks, they will be able to snipe the buildings at the ramp without you having the ability to shoot back.

@Lunarcheese72 there is indeed a reason, namely that you if you are going for a bio-heavy build you want to produce out of all your barracks, meanwhile your factory will idle around since you (probably) won't be building any units out of it. So you might as well use it to scout, after you have put your first starport down, just in case you lose this factory.
