its not a terrible cover but its a cover noe the less.... 2 of 3 horn players not at gig, I am a huge Chicago fan but I'm not into cover bands, not even 1 as good as this one
I will ALWAYS love Lee! He is gracious, easygoing and always stopped to talk if fans approached him. Once after a concert in Central Park in the 70s, a bunch of us headed over to their hotel where we were chatting with Lee. Some maniac came through the crowd and tore Lee's necklace off! It happened so quickly that no one had time to react and the guy got away. I sure hope he reads this because I want him to know that KARMA WILL CATCH UP WITH HIM AND IT IS A REAL B****!!!
With Bill Champlin having now been kicked out, it's time for Chicago to stop this nonsense (e.g. Lee singing Love Me Tomorrow) and call up Cetera and Seraphine to re-form the original band. At this point Chicago has become a tribute band of themselves for chrissakes!
Wow, eventhough I never saw Chicago live pre- Cetera, Kath, Seraphine era....Lee singing this set takes me back to the Old Chicago. Awesome!! Thanks for sharing, and if u ever come across anymore, please share.
Kathy1961,just had the pleasure of seeing PC in concert with the Spokane Symphony. Jason pales in comparison, PC nailed it every time effortlessly. Kudos to Lee for stepping up to the plate but really should be doing TK's songs (anyone better than BC). Unfortunate PC left, I would argue your comment he flopped, would love to see a reunion with the band and PC as well as DS but that probably not in the cards for various reasons
I agree with you about Lee should do Terry's old songs. The Song of the Evergreens from Chicago VII, for the longest time I thought it was Terry on lead vocal, when it was always Lee.
Ok,ok guys! I think my real problem with PC is that he left Chicago. You are all right, PC is the best. I would love to see him come back and do a concert with Chicago! I'm just trying to get over the fact that he left my favorite band. Jason does an adequate job but everytime I see Chicago in concert, I complain through the whole concert when he sings PC's songs. Now, when he sings a song that was written by or for him, I think he sounds good. I still love PC! I really do!
I love Lee too! I don't think Pete should ever come back. He made his choice and he flopped. Jason is doing great, I can finally admit it! Besides, Pete acts too goofy. He just isn't right. CHICAGO RULES!!!!!!!!
Peter flopped?? He had bigger hits (including two #1's) than Chicago after he left, and musically, his releases were far superior to his former bandmates' records. Vocally, there is no comparison. If you saw Peter's Christmas special on NBC on Christmas day, you would have seen that Peter has never been in finer voice, with every note spot on. Jason started well with Chicago in '86 but his vocals sound terrible today. Great bassist though. PS Lee should not sings peter's songs. Period.
Lee really DOES have a great voice. this vid does nothing for it, nor does the song choice for last season's concerts. Two years ago he sang "Happy Man" and it was spectacular. He definitely needs to be more in his baritone range, and these songs were written for tenor voice. But, it's so much fun seeing Lee sing live onstage these days. I agree that he should be allowed to sing some of the early Terry songs. His voice is bluesy enough to carry them nicely!
Lee does a great job. I will tell ya why this is special. Yes, Lee is a baritone, to be sure. However, with one of the guys singing it who were in that era makes the presence special for me. I love Jason's voice of course, but it is special to hear Lee sing the old stuff that way, at least sometimes. I would love to see him sing "Song of the Evergreens" live, I would really like that! how bout it fellow Chicago fans?
I think this was a worthy effort. I love the 16/17 ballads as much as anyone but lets face it, they all sound pretty much the same. I think this was a reasonable try at keeping things sounding interesting.
I surmise that the band is trying to spread out the lead vocal chores as much as possible, to give the "main" vocalists a break here and there in the set. Vocal quality aside, it certainly is fun to see Lee showcased a little more often, and it's fun to see these two particular songs done live again.
I like Lee's Singing on Song of the Evergreens, Definitely Let it Snow, even Happy Man.
I think it's great that they performed Love Me Tomorrow and No Tell Lover and wish that I saw it live, but I think they should be song by Jason. Now if Lee would sing something Terry originally did, like Hope For Love or Little One, that would be awesome!
Are you kidding? His vocal range matches these songs a lot better than Jason's. Just is a wonderful singer when he isn't trying to sing songs Peter Sang. He always sounds like he is reaching. Keith has a nice voice too. What's wrong with mixing things up a bit.
With all due respect, please pull the wax out of your ears. :-) All for mixing it up, but it incredible that people thing Lee has anything close to a vocal range that resembles Jason's or that he's more suited to sing a song written for Peter Cetera's voice than the tenor in the band.
Quite frankly, this performance made me want to gag. And I normally like Lee's vocals.
Lee helped co-write No Tell Lover so technically it's his song so he should be allowed to sing it. People not familiar with Chi's extensive song list are less than willing to accept another singer, but Lee is more than accomplished to step up to the plate. Maybe it was an off night or the fact that he was singing a song not off the familiar played to death song list Chi tends to repeat year after year. Chi really needs to incorporate Lee more often.
Yes, but that's how Peter Cetera does it these days too. Maybe not five full keys, but PC does *not* sing his material in the original key anymore either.
I concur with trb and Dracis ... if he wanted to sing what about the Song of the Evergreens?? This just isn't a song he should sing.. but an A for effort..
Thanks for sharing, but god that's an awful performance, IMO. I actually liked Lee's vocals on stuff like LET IT SNOW but he doesn't doesn't have Peter Cetera's range to be able to pull of this song.
I get that they want to mix it up, but it was meant for Jason Scheff, an actual tenor, to sing.
He can sing...he should sing more often...!!!

Lee seems to be their go-to guy to represent their B-level hits. He also does Happy Man (and very well).
Lee also co-wrote "No Tell Lover" so that's appropriate.

Chicago and Pete need to reconcile so he can come back. I doubt Pete could sing in those high keys anymore though.

my guess is that he fills in when others take the night off. walt wasn't there, and it's hard from these clips to figure out who else wasn't.

Yes, I saw Lee singing "Happy Man" in a concert with an acoustic version, and that was just terrific!!!
Love Lee's voice! From the new guys, I think Keith is pretty good singer.

Ummm, the reason his vocal range matches this song is because they're playing about 5 full keys lower than the original.
