  • recorded with a chair

  • The supercharger makes 55 psi and the block size is 500ci. And they ride the clutch the whole way down the track so that's why there so much clutch dust

  • @uzzie88 uploaded 2008 dumbfuck!

  • About 23 gallons per pass, actually. Look up the fuel pumps on these things. It's like a dam breaking on green. Nitromethane makes it's own oxygen as it burns, allowing for exorbitant amounts of (liquid) fuel.

  • @WierdGlass not 23 gallons...5 -7 gallons....

  • how can the fuel go in solid? think about it!

  • great vid, top marks.

  • so awesome

  • love it, wish I had that cam for my races :)

  • wonder what would happen if they increase the patch of contact with a 1/3 wider tire

  • I have the first car that appears on the video but in hot wheels, its blue and its awesome. I love mustangs and i love dragsters.

  • Start pressing play and pause at about 0:53 ....... if you do, you'll see how good these guys are in order to actually BEGIN to move BEFORE the light turns green. You can clearly see the car (dragster for you technical people) begin its forward rotation before the light is actually green...amazing!

  • Clutch dust? how? isn't the clutch inside a casing?

  • sickest shit ever!!!

  • 0-300 MPH in 4 seconds

  • @M335 Drived?

  • @M335 drived?

  • @rodneytroyer23 get a life professor

  • Theres this awesome slow motion compilation by an unknown Youtuber, check him out:) watch?v=9a_Wm54(_)pho

  • When he talks about counting the cylinders as they fire: to put it in perceptive at 8000rpm the crankshaft is tuning over 133 times per second, meaning the cylinders fire about 67 times per second, which means in a 4.5 second race each cylinder only fires about 300 times. (assuming constant rpm)

  • @Warblade118 and burns 5 to 5.5 gallons of fuel in that run

  • @farmerbrown29 Pretty incredible. Along with how many cubic feet of air, I wonder?

  • @Warblade118 no idea..pry more than i will breathe in a lifetime...but idk how they pump that much fuel in 4 to 5 seconds

  • @farmerbrown29 Well, I've read that the supercharger on a top fuel dragster at full boost of 65 psi can move as much as 3750 cubic feet of air per minute. Which equals 62.5 cubic feet per second! In a 4.5 second pass that's about 281 cubic feet. And keep in mind the huge about of fuel these things use, most of which goes in as a solid, uncompressable liquid. I'm surprised these things don't blow up more often than they do.

  • Neato.

  • I'm not gonna bother reading all the comments below, all I know is Top fuel dragsters are Amazing when you see them running in the flesh, and thats just spectating...

  • Ahh now I feel that road cars are faster

  • look at the tree the lighs are blinking

  • My friends mom bought a Miata when they first came out. She might still have it. I always considered her an old hippie. The car fit her perfectly. Maybe you can find some road racing videos on here. I bet there are some?

  • Ya TestECull...I bet you do it day in and day out don't ya. All the same. Boring isn't it? I bet if you were pinned back in the seat of a top fueler you couldn't even remember what your name was 3.5 seconds later...much less pull a chute cord.

  • @NeilLB7 Drag racing is boring. Oh boy it accelerate fast. But that's all it can do. One trick pony. It can't idle for more than a few minutes without overheating, it can't stop for shit, it can't turn for shit, the fuel mileage is abysmal even by race car standards, the cars are all hideous, you can't see a damn thing out of them and the 'fun' only lasts 3.5 seconds every 15-20 minutes.

I'd much rather be in a Miata on a road course. Way more fun, and way more challenging.

  • @TestECull Have you ever riden a roller coaster? Have you even gotten that feeling in your stomache when you accelerate? It's amazing right? Drag racing takes serious skill. With that much power you'll spin the wheels until you hit rim if you don't have serious throttle/clutch control. Timing the lights is no walk in the park, either. The stress of a race enviroment, coupled with the skills required make drag racing a serious test of skill. Like it or not, they deserve your respect.

  • @ColtonAndThomas Respecting it doesn't mean I lavish it with praise. I still think it's a boring sport. The only people getting any enjoyment out of it are the drivers. Perhaps the mechanics, since they get to see their heard work hurtling into a crash fence at 320MPH when the tire fails.

Yes, it takes skill. But so does BTCC, and BTCC is exciting to watch.

  • @TestECull BTCC is exciting and drag racing is not? 8,000 horsepower shattering the still, accelerating to 300+ mph in less than 5 seconds with the aroma of rocket fuel lingering in the air is CERTAINLY one of the most visceral thrills that can be had in motorsports. the unimaginable power of these engines reverberates through your very core; it's an experience unlike anything else in the motorsprts world.

  • @benchracerX It's exciting for the drivers I suppose. And maybe the fans there live. But it's also in five second bursts in between several minutes of blabbering I don't give a shit about. BTCC is exciting for the entire duration it's on TV.

BTCC is on Speed. Go watch an episode. You'll note that they're exciting far longer than any drag race could ever hope to be.

  • @TestECull You've never been to an NHRA event have you?

You've never seen or felt 8,000hp I'm betting.

  • @cyberhendrix Wouldn't change my opinion of it. Besides I have been next to a monster truck before. They're not too terribly different as far as engines go. Main difference is they run on alcohol instead of nitro so they only make 1500 or so.

  • @TestECull How can you not appreciate 320+ mph in 4 secs?

Come on, that doesn't amaze you?

  • @cyberhendrix One trick pony. I'd much rather watch a car that can corner at 5 Gs and do a 0 - 100 - 0 in the time it takes a road car to do a 0 - 60.

Big deal. It can accelerate like mad. It can't stop for shit and to turn it they need what amounts to a runway on the far end. I can appreciate the power, I can appreciate the skill it takes to build and pilot them, but it doesn't amaze me and it doesn't excite me.

  • @TestECull You are a stranger person that somehow doesn't appreciate 8000hp and 320+ mph in under 5 seconds.

  • @cyberhendrix ...You grow up using "Hooked on Phonics" or something? Because you can't fucking read. I said pretty clearly that I do, indeed, appreciate it.

  • @TestECull You said you appreciate the power, but not the speed and the time.

  • @cyberhendrix 8000 hp? thats like a freight train diesel engine. Try 8000 RPM's 1,100HP and about 210 MPH

  • @JTyler52 Sounds like you are talking about Pro-Stock, not Top-Fuel or even Funny Car.

  • @JTyler52 he meant 8000hp.

  • @JTyler52~ These top-fuel dragsters make around 8000hp!

  • @M335 Mash loud pedal --> Wait 3.5 seconds --> Mash brake pedal --> pull chute --> repeat 10 minutes later.

It's pretty damn routine when you think about it.

  • @TestECull So is watching any pretty much every race. It's the same set of turns over and over again.

  • it's like a fat persons face when u touch it.

  • @M335 Driven

  • @DRSHANKER droven....

  • dam, i never knew tires can be like that

it's like a piece of rag

  • Well, once you've 'drived' a car that's not on a video game, you'll get used to it.

  • ahh i wish this video was 720p!!!

  • Hey M335, learn how to write.

  • @fuzznutz09 HEY FUZZNUTS, GET A LIFE

  • well yhea but there are only 400m so it would be too long but if you are in a rally car and you have a mad driver .... oh yhea on a 8km track with lots of bends

  • Not only the tires and individual cylinder fire, but look at the green light. You can see it's refresh rate.

  • Wow good call, I didn't notice that.

  • @USGiorgi I think you mean the AC cycling. Light bulbs don't have a refresh rate.

  • @TestECull

As long as you understood what I meant, there is no reason to go into EE arguments.

  • @TestECull And I don't even like drag racing, I'm a road racing type guy.

  • @USGiorgi~ the RPM's are higher than the refresh rate of the light!

  • @marek0086

Yeah they are. I didn't even notice that!

  • @USGiorgi Thats not actually the refresh rate you see; the light is reacting to Chuck Norris sneezing about 1 block away!! ;-}

  • @spacesaver100

No that's his mom spanking the shit out of him for being such a poser and spreading lies about himself on the internet.

  • @USGiorgi not only that, he started before the lights were green, yet then car didn't start moving until the lights were green!

  • thats just crazy, being able to see the wrinkles in the sidewalls.
