Btw, I'm using my HTC Wildfire headphones with microphone.

Then you may think that the htc headset won't work with Ipod 2g. But it does, with the audio recorder app and the skype test call. What could be wrong? :(

Thank you. This worked like a charm. I bought the Switcheasy Mic but I kept looking in the Ipod's "settings" for speaker mode until I watched your video and realized it was Skype's speaker mode I needed to turn on. Hey! I just got this Ipod :-)

well as long as you have wifi then ur ipod will be able to work as a phone i'm pretty sure thats how that portion works

The problem is that when you plug in the microphone it disables the speaker. Cbutters showed a solution within Skype but that functionality seems to have been removed. Do you have some alternative suggestion?

@martygangsta625 it's like 7.95 for a month of unlimited calling to us and canada. i have it, and i get it in yearly increments. i only paid like 60 bucks for a year of service. but if you get an online number, so that ppl can call you from mobile phones- it's an extra 15 bucks on top of the subscription. it lasts about 3 months though.

I want something that works like the iphone in my pocket (I can hear it and pull it out and talk like it is a regular iphone). A mic that attaches to the bottom and doesn't fall off would work.

I have an iPod Touch 2g at 3.0 software. Once I saw your video I decided to jailbreak. I had this working, and then it stopped working about a week ago. I unjailbroke, rejailbroke...but still unable to get the internal speaker to stay enabled. Currently I am back to the stock apple setup.

My guess is that Skype changed their program about a week ago.

Anyone have this working in either a non-jailbroke iPod Touch 2g at 3.0 version OS, or a jailbroken 3.0 base OS?

does putting Skype in the background cause noticeably reduced performance? do you keep anything else in the background? if having just Skype in the background slows down overall performance, then maybe it's worth waiting for a 3.1 jailbreak so this will work on the new iPod touch 2GS. what do you think?
