This roundtable is crap. People want answers from CCP around lag and other serious issues, and from watching this all it seems is these two idiots they are just watching people argue. If these roundtables worked then maybe CCP would stop releasing expansions that have nothing to do with PVP and fixing the lag. Fixing the lag allows for the big fleet battles we were advertised in Dominion. Things are getting worse and worse. Next expansion should be PVP content only. Seriously.
The guy at 40:00 had it right. Just migrated to Win7 and what I was most nervous about was if my overview settings would stay intact or not (Server side not client side). Seems that they are server side and its going to take a good time to calibrate all the different types I had back.
I think anti-blob changes need to be made as soon as possible to revamp the combat mechanics for EVE. I'm in favor of something fundamental being changed - for example, introducing ship occlusion (blocking). The balancing issues would need to be sorted out, but the basic idea is that you can't as easily get your 20 or 200 man blob to primary 1 ship and have everyone do full damage. Instead, formations would be essential and hiding behind allies would be possible. Worth exploring, you think?
there is no balance for blob warfare other than good ewar skills... they only way to amke anti blob possible is to make ewar exceedly effect... then it all comes down to first target... and caldari will be the best race
I +1ed, however, the hardware just isn't there to deal with the amount of extra calculations that would be needed.. a 500 man fight would turn into the lag of an 1000 quite literally
It seems the only realy tactical worth wile fights are the big larg gamg fleet battles because one on one always destroys totaly one ship and the winder is not even end up being damaged. it is always one person knowing they will win and trying to get into a fight and the other running away.
Or you one of those, hey i got a kill this week thus i pvp :/
The pvp your talking about is called ganks - If you actually went out and pvped alot more you would find out very quickly you can get alot of fights where both people know what their doing, or both small groups know what their doing and you actually get losses on both sides.
Heaps of my solo fights end up with me in structure and just winning ;)
If they have subsystems and they damage them, the person who did the damage still gets nothing for it......
Why would they stay and get ganked just because they can damage sub systems? Pointless, i wouldn't stay and lose my ship just because i might damage their subsystems - All it would mean is people would be even more careful about pvp and thus less fights.
Damaging someones ship or making them pay is a shit incentive for people to pvp.. they don't get anything out of it
So your saying if someone thinks they can at least damage your subsystems they will then be happy to "donate" their ship in doing so... stupid logic.
Maybe if they learnt to pvp they would be able to win more often, yes even against fleets.
The subsystems idea is stupid man, i know i would pvp less if it was there because i wouldn't take chances on things i think i could normally kill as my ship would be damaged even if i win... thus less pvpers will pvp.
That way I will not have to always run away if I can and I will at least try and cause damage to modules and cost them something and then I'll loose my ship or why get into the fight when you are going to loose for sure?
you will get many many more fights in low sec if I can at least maybe do some damge to youre subsystems, that is how it would happen realisticaly anyways.
it's not risk for most, it's donating your ship for a fight.
And I risk my ship then have to donate it to have a fight or run. Most players loose all the time if they fight and that is ok except it is for nothing except to take up their time
But at least to make some sort of damage they have to pay for before you loos your entire ship. In big fleets it ok because each fleet act like one entity and you may atleast dest one of their ships.
People would love targeting and destroying subsystems I'm sure, that's all I'm saying, it just seems unrealistic otherwise.
if we don't give the looser a realistic fight then it will always be more boring then it has to be in low sec and 0.0
When you have a cause you can at least get some sort of satisfaction even though you loose. and that is even realistic and that's why people do not waist the time when going it alone or small gangs, their just like forget it what for? at least after always loosing. Gallente say they are always small gangs and not getting any satisfaction fighting the caldari militia
And the real reason why most people do not want to go to 0.0 is because they don't want to play someone elses game, but then in Dominion you can just go out in 1 system in 0.0, gee thanks.
Dominion the pets of EVE?
CCP big gangs ships are like subsystems that's why people choose to be in them but small gangs have little or no subsystems it is either all or none for most people, not fun not making sense because not realistic
Seriously in small fleets/gangs what people are in (subsystems) are even more important than in blobs... I'm sorry but most of your comments in regard to small gangs is simply wrong.
Most loose every single time even if they get them into hull, they still got nothing for it
They will just continue to run from getting ganked, there being no point to it for them
Subsystems getting damaged give a point to it for the rest of EVE that would like to PvP but find it pointless because it is like donating your ship and the other person having no risk except to have to pay for ammo used.
do it thisd way and yuo'll see many many more PvP in places like low sec etc..
If you have sub systems people will PVP even less, unless they are 100% they will win because they don't want to get their ship damaged....
& People won't engage just because they can do damage to anothers ship, as they still don't get a killmail for it so whats the incentive?
You just need to find the right areas to find fights - Or you need to pvp properly so you can come across a fleet and attempt to split them up to kill them off...
What your saying seems to cater for carebears that want to pvp once a week so after they die they feel good about themselves that they did *some* damage to the opposing ship and it would do this to the detriment of the actual pvpers who do it daily... why would we change for carebear pvpers who do it once a week to make themselves feel good?
More than half the whole discussion was about ideas that would unbalance the game =( There were a few good ones but ppl kept suggesting things that'd create new ore more problems and would only benefit either themselves or a small collection of ppl. Kinda disappointed =/ At LEAST they HAD a bunch of ideas lol.
Buy a better keyboard, with macro programmable keys. Then program them to do exactly what you want. One can cycle out drones quite quickly and tell them to engage, orbit and return. Of course drones are still drones and still switch targets without being told to.

The only way to improve the PvE side of it would be to introduce more risk(much more randomness in hostile strength and damage) Or something that requires increased organisation to deal with, so singular tougher opponents with respawning support, this however can't really give too much more of a reward per person than LVL 4's do presently as that's already an issue people are looking at for change.
Serious. I think the fact is is that CCP cater a little more to PVP players rather too players trying to progress to some sort of endgame in PVE content. There just isn't enough. Yes this is a sandbox game, but I feel that there needs to be a break between PVE and PVP in some sorts for some people. Not everyone in the game wants to go out killing. This mostly applies to new players and corps.
I agree totally, but some people have no interests in actively seeking PVP. They have other goals in the universe such as making money to support playing the game for free not having money to buy new ships while warring with others.
Yeh, i'm kinda missing a fun non pvp part of the game as well. One day they will hopefully bin the entire current pve and mining system and introduce something fun.
Until then the non pvpers will have planetary dictatorship and walking in stations i guess... sometime next year :)
Yes true, and I just wish PvP was more then jam and kill the other ship for sure and if they don't destroy your ship then you don't even go off limping home it is like you were not even in a battle

in general. And from viewing this video
the majority @ "pvp people" seem less intelligent (out of the box thinkers) with poor social skills in form of communication
+ highly emotional
you figure the rest out ,this is my observation.

exactly, the point is MOST people just get ganked and there for don't get to PvP like that.
And people let's say in low sec are borred waiting for fights.
alow people to get a pice of you and you will get many many more fight .
And besides it is normal to be able to damage a subsystem and fun on both sides.
keep it the way it is & the rest, 90% of EVE, will just keep fleeing
You're not wrong but not seeing the entire picture.

PvP would be better if it was not so cut and dry in small gang fights.
either you are for sure going to win or loose, and the looser is just stuck.
our ships need to have damge done to them that can not be repaired for free.
like modules can be damaged and need to have isk spent to fix them. or even that nanite compound.
