One of the best movies ever made or should I say best documentary. Everyone's world is not glamerous. Yes, life can be ugly. Its hard. Its cold. Finally, a real picture of life and the world that I and people like Precious have or are living in every day. We do not live in this world alone, but in a thousand other worlds. And now another world. .. . Precious.
I didn't like this movie, I don't why, I just didn't, I found it disturbing that they would show something like this. Even though it DOES happen in real life, it's not required to show it in the movies.
@Hteam1422 You have got to be kidding me.....Luckily you won't ever be in charge of any entertainment, so people that live this life won't be put in the dark and kept away from every ones eyes because it isn't pretty.
Before this movie came out I used to think my life was terrible and every so often I would watch this movie trailer and realize that my life wasn't so bad and it made me feel better it made my life better it made me better.
I hired this on DVD and watched it last night - It is a well-done film. I was calling Clarice's mum a mean ass hoe for most of the time I watched it. But my favourite part is when her teacher tells her that her baby loves her, and she loves her. They are such beautiful, powerful words. It shows how a few sentences like that can make a difference to a person's life. God bless anyone who is being abused right now, I hope someone makes a difference to your lives.
I cried just by watching the trailer...:( Especially at the end when she said 'Nobody loves me' :( Fun fact: Gabourey Sibde actually skipped school to audition for Precious!
Very good movie, so real. And I have to say her mom played really good, i hated her the whole movie and thought if I ever met her i would click clack pow...word up.
I loved the mother character the most, very realistic and accurate... with all the pain and stress shes gone through in her painful life... shes lost all hope, and treats her daughter the way life has treated her to toughen her up and to show her to not set her goals hi, as they are just going to crash down like hers did... She lets her know its not all sunshine and rainbows as it has failed so miserably for her
i could not watch this movie i came in the movie when she has a flash back where she gets raped by her dad and i couldnt watch anymore especially since my father was with me
@snopiey12345 , it's a very inspiring movie. the first time i wanted to see it, was because my friends said it was funny. [never saw the trailer or anything] I cried multiple times during this movie at all the ''funny'' parts in Precious. I still yell at my friends for calling it funny. but, yes. it's a very good movie :)
i watched the movie first and then read the book. the movie was sad. the book was sickening and more real to me. i thought the book was better. it explained things better.
i haven't watched it yet even though i own it because i'm waiting until i'm at that right level of depression. you know, where i'm not so depressed that it's going to leave me worse off, but just depressed enough that after watching it i feel like my life's pretty good. today i'm in a good mood so there's no way i can watch this tonight.
this is one of the best movies ever. i just watched it and i actually cried, and it's rare for me to cry in a movie. Really really touching, a must watch.
i just finished the book, dissapointed thats not what i pictured some of the characters looking like, specially ms.rain. in the book ms.rain seems so distinct. not to say alicia keys isnt distint but i dunno @_@
everytime i watch this i start crying so much. wen we all get mad at our parents 4 not gettin us th brand new iphone this video reminds me that millions of other people have it worse so we should b greatful 4 wut we have
@reg10x she said light skin. its an important factor in the movie on how many black people feel it better to be light skinned or white. it is heart breaking but as time goes on people will learn black is beautiful.
woow!! my cousin told me hey lets see this movie it looks loke a happy movie and we ended crying so loud we woke up everybody!! and everybody cried after they saww it!!
Powerful, fantastic film. Monique did an amazing job. I forget the name of Precious' actress, but obviously, she was magnificent also. Definately a 5 star film, but it will bring you to tears.
Con't- You ask yourself, can I see myself doing that to my own child, and the answer is NO! But Precious, like so many abuse victims, dreams of being loved by the abuser. The message at the end that is so inspiring is she says to her mother that she will never see her again.
We feel relieved..... just don't think too much about what happens after the movie ends. A morbidly obese, learning disabled girl with 2 special needs children AND HIV..... yet she pushes onward.
(con't) dealing with all of that... not unlike the social worker who is left overwhelmed.
If you have ever been abused, this movie will give you some perspective. You will realize your abuse could have been worse, but the mother's explanation of her behavior was a big "what about me?" and I see that as the common thread shared by abusive parents. I have been thinking about it and realize that once you become a parent, you give up trying to make excuses for your own abusive parents. Con't
I saw this movie last night.... there is a lot of nervous laughter in the theatre versus tears. It is a powerful story, but it does leave the impression of being the worst parts of three or four individuals patched together into one horrifying story. It almost leaves you numb at the end.... but you can't stop thinking about it.
When "Push" gets heavy, you can set it aside for a day and come back to it... in the movie it is one thing layered upon another and viewers have a hard time (cont'd)
oh my god , yet another sad getto story..her mother was a crazy bitch and should be punished for treating her daughter like that. sad world we live in people, the truth is out there, and it will release us from the shackles that keep us in this living hell...
that's a real teacher! no one can just become a teacher. being a teacher is a gift from god. that let anyone become teachers these days and half of those teachers dont even care about the students.
Very rarely is the book better than the movie. It is a good movie but the book outruns it by miles. If Monique isn't at least nominated for something, it will be an outrage.
