Snakes like rats some meat eating humans like killing and eating cows. Dead is dead and killing is killing. Even vegitarian kill plants to survive. Death is part of life. The snake is just making an honest kill. You don't really think cows just fall apart into those nice take home containers in the meat section of the store do you. Someone killed it for you and it was a darn sight uglier than what the snake did to the mouse.
Perhaps. However, since all zoos feed pre-killed, I'm inclined to believe that such occurrences are much fewer than some snakes owners like to pretend. Stubborn feeders can also be transitioned to freshly pre-killed most of the time, and even live feeding can be done more humanely by stunning the rodent.
