This is f'ing awesome!! hearing the throttle control of each driver through the corner and waiting for that noise to arrive is fantastic! Thanks for posting!!
Thanks for this fantastic video. I wish there were more gems like this from that special time. I think the early '90s was the end of an era whose peak was in 1990, during which an authentic heady mix of F1's other-worldliness and danger combined with an arcane cutting-edge of technology and drama as it never would again. This video captures the raw, compelling, elemental menace of the cars themselves.
Schumacher brought again a god-like status, but superimposed it on a more anodyne backdrop.
Yes it's absolutey true that one can easily tell the difference between the engines in those days. And oh my god do they sound fantastic! The V12 - wow! There was so much character then. It's just not there anymore..
Characters, colours, shapes, sounds, sparks, fat slicks! F1 needs that again!
Amazing video from the Golden Era of Fourmula 1! (Never to be seen again)
Lamborghini was really a class of his own, comparing budgets...MCLaren also tried them for 1993 and Senna appreciated very much the power and grip....

Listen to that Bam Bam Bam when Senna goes past. Excellent throttle control.
daljeet2 2 years ago 4
That's typical Senna. Quick stabs to the throttle on exiting the corner.

The Mclaren was powered by the V12 honda that year, not sound as good as the V10 years before.

Totally Awesome. I was born in 1992 and have been a Formula 1 fan since 2005. I wish I was around to have enjoyed those glory days.

The cars nowadays don't sound and smell like each other. And the reason why they look like each other are the regulations of the FIA

Can u hear which V8 is Mercedes, Ferrari, Toyota or Honda?
From this clip it easy to separate all manufacturers engine sounds. Nowadays its all the same = boring.
Jyllenberg 4 years ago 4
I suppose you've never been at the track recently. If so, you could.
Nageln 4 years ago
True, I haven´t been at track.
But today from tv it´s impossible to hear the differences. On 1992 it was easy when V8-V12 engines were used..
Jyllenberg 4 years ago 4
Variation in sound has a lot to do with exhaust configuration and harmonics also.
But still, the sounds nowdays are similar. Nothing like in the "good ol' days".
svcxac 4 years ago 4
Thanks for rare footage from better times.
Now cars look same, sound same, drivers talk same things. Only separative thing is cars colour schemes..

Thanks for the vid, the V10 was a Williams judging by the colour of the car and the sound.

Senna in the McLaren Honda V12 is SOoooo distinct - he's always "Blip Blip Blip" with the throttle throughout the corner.
randedge 5 years ago
oh, yes I do realize the engine revs up to dowship. What I mean was Time index 1:19.. that's where you can hear his "blipblipblip"
