God, there was no better music for fighting Avion than this. As I saw him fly through the mist, this piece instilled in me a sense of awe...Even fear. SOTC is simply another example that video games ARE a form of art.
Many video game soundtracks lose their effect when listened to while not playing the game. The soundtrack to The Shadow of The Colossus however is a major exception.
@Enoughyoufool 1 person appears to be unoriginal and inable to type a more productive comment. I wonder who that could be?
....no seriously, it's a fucking thumbs down. It's not like it'll affect the quality of the music or make a colossus rape the viewers ass or anything is it? -___-
@Enoughyoufool And your middle name is unoriginal, it seems. First a '-numberfodislikers- people are -insertsomethingrelatedtothegame' comment, then you go and copy my comment. Makes you look pretty dumb, fucktard.
I actually kinda felt sorry for this colossus (Avion) when I killed it. I'm not sure why. I also felt sorry for that other flying one in the desert....I guess mostly because it wasn't even attacking me, it just flew around and didn't even really defend itself while I was killing it. (almsot makes me feel heartles....almost)
Ah... This plays when Avion (5th colossus) makes an appearance, right? He's one of my favorite colossi. Thanks for uploading these musical masterpieces!
You feel bad for killing some of them, sure, but they're really just the divided essence of Dormin. By killing them, you absorb his essence into yourself, creating a new body for him. You get screwed over like all hell in this game.
That's not entirely definitive. If the spirits that animated them were solely the fragments of Dormin's soul, they wouldn't fight back against you. I believe the colossi were guardians of the fragments, embedded with their own minds and spirits to drive them to protect themselves and the essences they contain.
Killing the colossi has got to be tragic for a reason.
@Shiruvi There's dialogue in there somewhere describing the people of the land sealing dormin into the 16 colossi. Not to mention it was forbidden for a reason. Simply put, he got trapped, and Wander became his key to get out of it.
@NeoSarinatan Both yes and no, I think the Collosi grew independent from the Dormin's power and were only merely given life by it's existence, they weren't evil just grew to be animalistic, some Collosi like Avion the bird did not attack Wander imediantly and only attacked when it instinctively knew he was there to kill it suggesting it was not the evil of the Dormin commanding it to attack but rather it was like an animals survival instinct. This is why I think the Collosi seem so innocent.
@NeoSarinatan And Phalanx, I believe he was the one in the desert, the largest of them all. He made no attempt to attack you whatsoever. Any damage Wander took from the battle was his own fault, and this merely enhances your point.

Dormin doesn't really trick Wander at all. He's pretty upfront about what's going to happen.
He warns Wander that this shit ain't gonna be easy, and he might not get exactly what he wants.

Yeah, Colossi were more like cage. Kind of prison where fragments of Dormin are suposed to be contained
but actually, they don't fight back too much, colossi
get rid of you with just only scratchin their back xD
PhoeniXTalca 2 years ago 2
Actually some Colossi in the game fight back and they do so quite heavily. The final one and the one before it are two very good examples of this.
MCSuire 2 years ago
they aren't THAT difficult you can find a quick way up (using your brain a little) and stab those building-like monsters xD
PhoeniXTalca 2 years ago
@NeoSarinatan I couldn't have put it better myself. Perfect statement.
kjun13 1 year ago
@NeoSarinatan Maybe they WERE fragments of Dormin - fragments who gradually became sentient and decided they didn't want to reunite.
Then Wander comes along and stabs them in the head u.u

SPOILER
Well, Dormin does die at the end, and even Agro makes it out alive, albeit injured.
I'd say it's an extremely happy ending. Although, the fact that Wanderer doesn't actually remember mono when he awakens as a baby is a little sad.
eedobaba7726 2 years ago 3
@eedobaba7726 Personally, i find the ending to be extremely sad. It all depend on the point you see it.
Malygos0 1 year ago
@Malygos0 I suppose so. Really, to me, it boils down to the facts.
SPOILER
A: Mono came back to life.
B: Wander is very much still alive, with 15, maybe 17 years added onto his life.
C: Agro is alive. :)
D: None of the guards are killed, which to me is good. They were really only doing what they had to.
E: Dormin is dead, which pretty much serves him right for tricking and then possessing poor Wander.
F: All of the events lead to Ico meeting Yorda, which is a very good thing in my book. :)
eedobaba7726 1 year ago
@eedobaba7726 I'm not very familiar with this, though my guess is wander becomes Ico.
TheFireHawk7 1 year ago
@TheFireHawk7 Wander is an ancestor of Ico. Ico has horns because Wander passed down the curse for generations.
