I would rather use Linux Ubuntu or Linux Mint or one of the 1,000 of free distributions ... but that's just me.

There is tons tons of ways out there to run Mac OS on standard PC's I've even ran Mac OS in VMware as well, and Linux has ways to hack Mac OS as well.

I'd hate it if OS X was run on PC's. It would crush Apple and nobody would buy Apple Laptops, but instead buy PC's and install OS X. Apple could code their OS to not support PC hardware, or to require a special chip etc.. but then hackers will get past this. However, I think what apple could do is create their own HD thats designed specifically to only fit into computers they make, and make an OS X that only runs on these kind of hard drives. I think this could work?

OS X runs on some PC's by mistake, there are also the OSX86 projects that i tried out myself, Mac is even better on a PC. Also, Apple only wants to sell it's hardware, and the biggest feature it has is that the OS "can't run" on other hardware. Without that, nobody would buy Mac's.

Mac OS X may run better on a PC but thats down to specs. A mac is not the same on a PC and Apple hardware is by far the best hardware I have ever owned. Apple offer good standard products and they don't settle for less. Like Dell for instance, okay they sell some pretty nice laptops, or have at least in the past, but their build quality isn't as good as Apple. Dell often feel quite flimsy, Mac's dont. Id still buy a Mac if OS X was on PC's. simply because of their design, as others would im sure

Psystar allegedly even stole RebelEFI from the OSX86 project. Quite a few people have mentioned how so many lines of code are the same. They really have no respect for IP rights. It would be quite interesting if they ended up getting sued by the open source community too if they could find someone to represent them.

Apple have about $35billion in cash, so if they get fined they can easily pay it and their bottom line won't really be hurt. Plus, the whole Nokia case is crap, they should go after pretty much everybody who makes a phone if they want to be fair, but they just go for the biggest target. Apple can just turn around and countersue for all the patents Nokia have infringed on and settle. It's just a tactic from Nokia to get some easy money.

i think most people a very cautious to buy a product that does not have support..if u buy a dell and install OS X on it, there is no support and no warranty...i personally wouldn't care, but that is because i am computer savvy..but most people are not, and would not do this...thats why they have only sold about 800 units..of there expected 12 million...in this day of age people want insurance..they want to know that if something happens, their money is not lost.

its not that there is to much volume at all. once u make a product its really easy to duplicate.

whats difficult is getting a good quality on all its products and making a fresh load of products each year to keep profits to the max and squeeze money out of its costumers (apple is typical with this)

and whats also difficult it to make a constant of products with hardly any products.

Then when doing all of that u have to make the costumer believe that there product is the best for them.

I tried to install osx on my hp compaq, i tried leo4all, iatkos and other stuff, it was slow running, sound didnt work, resolution was very poor ultimately a bad experience. So i sold it and bought a mac! (much better)

I love this idea! If other computers can start being sold with the ability to run OSX then we would get more "mac" computers at a cheaper price and would froce apple to step up their hardware quality and drop prices. I think the pros outweigh the cons on this idea. apple needs more competition and not just from microsoft.

It appears that apple haven't been doing as much work lately so maybe they're working hard on a tablet or on the iphone, etc and putting less focus into there core business, macs.
