In 1989 I was riding a motorcycle from TX up to NJ. I stopped for the night at a motel numbered 6 in Little Rock. Headed into the bar for a drink and relaxing evening listening to the local live band.
At the bar was a couple sitting close and nursing drinks. They were in their late forties with hair styles from the previous generation. Everything was fine while the band played George Straight but when they covered Third Rate Romance the couple seemed to get uncomfortable. They soon left.
great video, love the origianal version, could never remember the band's name, but anyone who thought it was a sammy kershaw song, i set them straight... lol... rock on.... oh yeah \, when i moved last year i found all sorts of 8 tracks that my mom saved....

Very nice. 8-track tape was the tippy top for quality.

This is the version I've been searching for. It's the only perfect one. Unimproved upon by the many who've tried. Thank you!

Blows the Sammy Kershaw (cover) version away by a mile. His is rushed and sloppy, but the Aces are perfect. Great song, reminds me of my youth.
